Does the project include both the shorter glass building and the tower?

I love the design of this and am pleasantly surprised; also it should be rising out of the ground before we know it. I'm guessing even though it's 14 floors due to the height of each floor we're still looking at about 300 feet? This should be a great project to elevate downtown and FINALLY start to fill in the gap between downtown and Channelside

Looks great to me. This is going to be super prominent in the skyline at least until Channelside and the History Center lot is developed. It'll especially look epic coming north on the Beneficial Drive bridge.

This will definitely be one of the most modern looking skyscrapers in Tampa. One of the few that screams "I was built in the 21st century."

I'm counting about 14 stories, give or take 1. Building will be 250-300 feet tall due to extra tall floors.

Only concerns:
- Hope the garage in the back looks ok on Meridian.
- Hope there is ground floor retail wherever possible. Of course this will have a food court, it would be nice if it interacted with the street some.

Other then that, I'm more then ready to see this go up.

The project also includes the box glass building on the left. I'm not sure if that's also set to start in August or what.

Yes to both.

Yeah, same thoughts here. I was expecting a glassy box, all right angles. I was pleasantly surprised.

My son is a student at USF medical school. If the building stays on track he should be in it for at least a year.

Wow, this is marvelous looking project to say the least, especially with a mostly glass fašade and an impressive height to match.

That's a beaut...and I'll have a good view of it once it's finished. Looking forward to Vinikville getting underway!

Not really. Depends on what you call "the project" USF is building the med school & SPP is building the surrounding buildings. So in reality they are separate projects.

The glass box building directly to the left of it is a "medical office building" that has been part of the USF med complex plan since the get go. Now, they may not break ground at the same time, but it does appear they are the same project (for example, the garage in the back will serve both buildings).

But yeah I guess it matters what definition of "same project" you use.

And notice USF has the building drawn out in their own material, but none of the other Vinik stuff:

The Masterplan published in the bizjournal in September shows a residential building with ground floor grocery store in the place of the garage....

Site plan revealed. 14,000 sq. ft. of retail and a general clinic. The print is small but the retail is at Channelside/Meridian and the trapezoid section fronting the plaza.

I can see the corner spot becoming a Starbucks. In a building with students and workers working long hours and that is a highly visible intersection.

^I'm sure coffee will be part of the mix but they need to feed the students as well, so expect some quick-serve type of places that you would expect in a student union.

It's not like this building is going to stand alone, so who knows what they'll put in in light of that
