^I liked the less boxy design from before more but this will certainly do. Edit - maybe it's not more boxy and it's just the angle of the rendering, I don't know.

I think it's basically the same, but I like he plaza a lot, that's going to be helpful, we don't have enough of those.

But mods, can I ask for a change, USF isn't in the Channel District. It's at Water Street (or Downtown). But since there are going to be over a dozen of those I'd stick to Water Street

One aspect I love are the nice and large shade trees and the lack of palm trees.

I wonder where does this rank in terms of both overall height and design when compared to other medical schools around the country?

It'll bring the school's design and overall facility quality more in line with the school's ranking (if not above where they currently stand). The old facility was definitely in the lower tier of medical schools.

I'm just surprised that if this building is supposed to start construction next month has nothing been uploaded through the city's permitting to give greater detail?

On pg 7 of the airport agenda - board of adjustment hearing http://www.tampaairport.com/sites/de...%20Meeting.pdf it appears the height will be 305 amsl. Im not sure what the elevation of the site actually is.

The AMSL of the airport is listed as 26'. I doubt downtown is as high that.

It appears to be between a little less than 10' and about 15' at the extreme northwest of the lot

You can scroll around here to find it http://www.peakbagger.com/map/BigMap...&sy=-999&cyn=0

In his interview, Nozar said they would raise the elevation of the whole water street development to be better prepared for rising sea levels. I wonder how much.

It's nice to see proactive measures. This, along with the building health focus, could be good marketing points, I imagine. Wonder what SPP's thinking was?

The City of Tampa recently completed a sea level rise vulnerability analysis, and the City-County Planning Commission has updated the comprehensive plan to include planning for sea level rise but that won't be translated into the development regulations for several months. So this is proactive indeed. Good to see another sign of stewardship from Vinik.

Did you even read the post or the link?

Is something wrong with hardening a new development against flooding from hurricanes and other tropical events? Increasing elevation in Tampa, known for its existing flood problems without hurricanes, just makes sense. The area around Amalie Arena is prone to flooding, and I usually have to suspend streetcar service along Old Water for an hour after a heavy enough downpour.

Regardless if you believe in climate change or not, sea level rise in Florida translates as storm surge more than anything else.

Ah, a voice of reason. Music to my ears.

I was under the impression that trolling is against the rules. Mods, is there a way for one user to screen/block the posts of another user?

Cheers!

You can edit your ignore list by going here. I've done the same. I find it pretty depressing when people just spout ideological bullshit. It's one thing to disagree and have an intelligent discussion or present opposing views with EVIDENCE to support said view, but some people just can't be bothered to think critically and put a little effort into doing some research. Many are trapped in their echo chamber and label anything that is counter to their beliefs as the opposing party's bias. This is particularly troubling as it has now infected the general population's perception of scientific research. We now live in a world where where the ignorant know everything. Idiocracy here we come...
