Grêmio Arena was the first stadium in Brazil to try to use european winter grass, because of the low incidence of sunlight expected at the winter... plus it used Desso Grassmaster, called a grass specialist from Ireland, and an international company specialized in football pitches.

It were all experiments and Grêmio Arena suffered from being the first in Brazil trying these new methods and techs (with different climate, different fungus in the air, etc). Things went wrong, but certainly, a lot was learned too.

I see that you are a very emotional person and bias individual.

the only bias I see is from people who were bashing Gremio Arena lawn comparing it to the "perfect" grass from Mineirão, and now we see Mineirão grass also is shit.

Sadly yes. From what I understand from people in the posting stream secran, is that Gremio is in argument with the government over the standing section of the stadium with the government wanting the section be converted to a seating section. Gremio and their fans don't want that and are fighting hard to have at least safe standing sections in Arena do Gremio.

It seems they finally agreed on the standing-only section, with bars to avoid the "avalanche".

But that's not the only part still under construction: they needed to speed up to finish some parts to inauguration day, and now, they are refurbishing them; the auditorium for press conferences (and club council meetings) is almost ready; the team store is just now being built.

That's good. Although I am going to miss that Avalanche celebration. It was the coolest goal celebration I have seen.

Because there was a legal dispute between Gremio and the Brazilian government on keeping the standing room section, in which the Brazilian government wanted it filled in with seats. They came to a resolution in putting in safe standing room like in Germany.

Ah ok, I wondered if it was CONMEBOL that wanted to do like UEFA for continental games, but I saw that it still exists in Bombonera.

Should moderator move this thread to completed? I've seen Mineirão and other already being moved. Arena was the first to be completed officially on Nov 2012.

well, so far we only had either Libertadores matches with average attendances of 35 thousand (and could be more, if the Geral area, the cheapest, had not been blocked).

and Rio Grande do Sul State League, and state leagues have very low attendances all over Brazil (however, tv audiences are not that bad, and thats why brazilian media still force to keep them)

ticket prices are more expensive than people would like (all over Brazil, even in shoddy stadiums). Its pathetic, I wonder when brazilian club administrators will realize that Germany has a better model?

photos by Digimon showing the new AVALANCHE-STOP bars, required by state police/firefighters corp, to allow the Geral stands to be reopened to public.

notice also they are repositioning the chairs in the corners, because fans were complaining about the ugly alignment (still seen on 4th ring)
