A radical surgery en masse. Fuel procurement was adversely mentioned in the forensic audit. Audit failed in a one way or another to detect obvious forgery and lapses in controls. Heads are finally rolling.

KQ bags top award at regional fete
Business Daily

Quote:
Kenya Airways KQ • 4.70 ▼ 1.05% (KQ) has been feted as Africa’s leading airline at the 24th Annual World Travel Awards held yesterday in Kigali, Rwanda.

This is the second consecutive year the national carrier has won the coveted title, beating other nominees including South African Airways, RwandAir, EgyptAir and Royal Air Maroc
.
KQ was also named the winner in the Business Class category for the fifth consecutive year
, while Ethiopian Airlines bagged the award in the Economy Class category - winning it for the fifth year in a row.

“Winning these awards would not have been possible without the passion and dedication of the Kenya Airways team and the strong support from our guests. Our guests are at the heart of everything we do at the airline and these two awards confirm our undeterred commitment to them,” said KQ boss Sebastian Mikosz in a statement Wednesday.

Ethiopian Airlines was feted as Africa's leading airline brand, coming out tops in the category against Kenya Airways, South African Airways, RwandAir, EgyptAir, Tunisair and Royal Air Maroc.

Cape Town International Airport in South Africa was named the region's leading hub while Diani Beach in Kenya was named as Africa's leading beach destination.

The World Travel Awards serve to recognise, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry within each key geographical region.
Last year's ceremony was held in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

Can someone explain to me how this award works. How on earth is KQ ranked above the other, healthier airlines which seem to perform better from a pricing, punctuality and service perspective??? Granted my flight with them last month was excellent, but I am curious what criteria they use to rank them.

Voting system. It is open to anyone. I agree with J class, it is more superior than what ET offers. KQ's J class cabin in the dreamliner for instance is very spacious.

The purge continues.

It is out in the press.

Christopher Oanda, who has been in charge of the supply chain department for nearly nine years, left KQ effective October 16 (Monday), according to a memo sent to staff by the airline’s human resource manager Sammy Chepkwony.

“This is to announce that Christopher Onuonga Oanda, who has been the head of procurement, has separated from the company. His last day of service is October 16,” said Mr Chepkwony.

It funny how long some of these folks have been at KQ. Folks like Kinyanjui. Don't folks feel like 5 years is good enough then move to something else? Though perhaps he is part of the X generation. Very risk averse

That generation wears corporate titles on their sleeve. It becomes part of their identity. Wouldnt be surprised if most people know him as 'Kinyanjui wa KQ'.
