Finally, we have decided to open Ljubljana projects and updated thread. We will try our best to present anything new happening in Ljubljana.

I'll represent one project per day, starting with projects that are already under construcion. You'll se there is much happening in Slovenian capital.

I hope you'll enjoy the thread and contribute to it.

Let's start, shall we?

UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Lift/funicular to Ljubljana Castle

You probably know something already about this project as it was presented in the SloveniaNEWS thread... Here's the update.

Length: 118 m
Height: 70 m
Max. speed: 3 m/s (1 minute between stations)

Capacity of the cabin: max. 33 passengers or 500 people per hour

Because of the weather and other reasons (excuses of the municipality), lift isn't finished yet, although it should be at the end of June. Tracks are more or less finished, the cabin will be delivered on 7th September. They will open it till 22nd October, starting with test rides. It should be fully operational and opened to public in November.
Tourists workers are rather dissappointed because they are opening it so late after the main tourist season.

VIDEO SIMULATION

01.09.2006:

They delivered parts to the construction site with this helicopter:

Umm.. what the hell are you talking about?

Anyway, nice that we finally got a thread for Ljubljana, and can't wait for the funicular to be finished!

^ I think BL would rather see this thread in the (non-existing) Eurasian forum...

You probably mean Kolizej... It's on hold until they decide what to do with the old building. It's currently protected as architectural heritage.

It hasn't been approved by the city authorities, so it's on the backburner now, although the company that wants to build it is pressing hard for it to be built.. If it will be really built, I don't know.

However, the PCL (new railway and bus station), which will be located close to it, will have a skyscraper of approximately the same height..

Kolizej, I hope it never gets built!

Anyway, good job for opening the thread, LJ City!

(And one 'smart' sentence - in the first post you misspelled the word 'construction' )

Hehe, it's okay, it was just a bit of an.. unexpected reaction.. Plus I guess none of us is so good at Serbian (or was it Bosnian?) to understand it was a joke..

Sarajevo City: The height is approximately 100 metres, give or take.. So nothing that spectacular, but I would expect a bigger skyline to form outside the inner city circle (the site for the Kolizej is inside it while PCL is on the edge, albeit outside)..

Are you taking the person who translated it for you, for a Serb/Bosnian?

As far as I remember you didn't see it as a joke either. Get my idea?
