Ex Singapore Thai or Malaysian a380s I'll wager. Not new ones. I would say

AL will provide pool pilots at most, not get a permanently allocated A380. AL would need the A380 to do surges on the DUB - LHR T2 route on occasion. Rugby season and Christmas stand out...their A350s will suffice for transatlantic. It might even do soccer charters midweek and rugby weekends in winter perhaps and head off to Spain for the tourist season then.

Or BA provide pilots . Dunno.

I simply cannot see AL operate and crew an A380 24/7/365 anyway.

In particular, Barcelona to Oakland will be 3x weekly, while Barcelona to Los Angeles will be 2x weekly. Hopefully, with growing competition for Spanish flights, Iberia could mount a nonstop service between Madrid and San Francisco (Los Angeles is served seasonally, up to 4x weekly)... maybe 3x weekly to start on the A330-300 or A346 would do.

British Airways lost their IT system early today resulting in absolute chaos. In 2016 they
outsourced their systems to Tata Services in India and fired around 300 IT staff.

Less than 6 month later it has gone tits up. There is no ETA on the systems coming back online. Rumour tonight is that the main problem is a power issue but as the IT gear is distributed across multiple sites I fail to see why that should be an issue if it is properly designed.

Right now they cannot even process arriving planes as all the gates in Heathrow T5 are fully occupied. It will take them all night to debark inbound planes and get pax and their luggage to the terminal exit in once piece.

For now all BA flights from the UK are cancelled, and thats it. Watch their twitter, which still works.

48 hours later BA is still recovering from the outage. Long Haul flights are now functioning with some delays but short haul flights are still being cancelled today (Monday)

Some people are looking at their third night in a London Hotel and most had to make their own arrangements ( BA shut their call centers every night) to find a hotel where the obligation is legally on the airline under EU Law.

Nobody is sure if BA will run a full schedule on Tuesday either and they have hordes looking to rebook in Terminal 5 , some there since Saturday.

British Airways will launch flights to Nashville

Quote:
In addition, the airline is also increasing services to Philadelphia and Phoenix from a daily service to ten flights a week from Heathrow, and will also be introducing the A380 on one of the two daily flights to Chicago.
