What of the plans to extend the line through the City centre?

The empty corner next to the Metro One campus of the college (opposite the Metro) is to finally be used, as a properly landscaped car park.

The Wishbone Bridge has been painted white and actually looks pretty good now!

The headline of the Express and Star is about a new hotel for Wolverhampton - but it's not on the online paper. Anyone know any more?

The Standard, restaurant on Cleveland Street next to The Viceroy, is being extensively refurbished - new shop front entirely looking smart. This used to be a grotty looking place, can't comment on the food but I'm sure it was lovely.

Virgin Trains are to invest millions of pounds in Wolverhampton Railway Station - something which I believe they do NOT have to do as part of their franchise. This is brilliant.

As someone who uses the station daily i am utterly, stupendously delighted. It is an awful station in just about every way one can imagine. The entrance/exit, more than anything is so spectacularly stupid. Surficed to say that when just 1 larger train unloads it is a nightmare. Oh please please please let this happen.

Well this could coincide with the tram extension... It'd be really great to see these projects kick off together

Certainly very positive news! Will be keeping an eye on this. Needless to say, Wolvo has a number of problems and the train station is one of them.

Also from that article.....

The announcement comes just weeks after it was revealed 10 staff lost their jobs with the closure of the CD and DVD shop That’s Entertainment, which also decided against negotiating a new lease in the adjourning Wulfrun Centre.

TE's been gone for weeks now Butters. So sad Once again, the giant centres killing our city with unfeasible rents.

I didn't realise - I'm sure I was only there a month or so ago. Oh well, at least I bought a stack of cheap CDs whilst it was there, plus there's the smaller but well stocked That's Entertainment at Merry Hill.

Still sad though. I remember my dad buying me toys from the large WH Smiths, plus some of my first singles.

Do do do, another one bites the dust -

F Hinds in the Wulfrun Centre is now advertised as vacant on the WC website.

Well, whilst the staff have my sympathies, WHSmith the chain do not, having displayed a complete lack of understanding in what customers want ie. to not be ripped off. I do not mind paying a little bit extra here or there for certain products but they take the piss. As I have mentioned elsehwere, their prices for stuff liek Coke and chocolate and crisps ios vastly higher than anywhere else (the new New Street branch is tryign to charge £1.99 for a 500ml bottle of coke! even in the offer of 2 for £3 its still more expensive than the Boots 20 feet away). They always have a minimal staff level so you have to queue for ages to purchase your overpriced beverage and other goods. Whilst its another sad sory in the demise of Wolverhampton centre, the loss of WHSmith in isolation is not one I can force myself to care about.

Yes, their Lego is always a good 50% above RRP too, amongst other things. The only thing WH Smith is good for is magazines as they're always at RRP.
