CHITOWN will always be USA's 2nd city no matter how hard it tries. Yes. It has beaten LALA LAND in terms of skyline. But the city really lacks that depth, density and variation like NYC and DUBAI.

Chicago has always aimed for beauty and cleanliness off Lake Shore Drive with Grant Park and other Lake Michigan shore developments and re-developments. unfortunately, this has also been its undoing.

Where as, NYC just doesnt gives a damn how ugly its waterfront looks in terms of cleanliness. It keep building all around. JC skyline. LIC skyline. now BROOKLY skyline. MANHATTAN skyline........and soon to come FORT LEE Skyline, QUEENS skyline etc etc.

NYC like DUBAI are skyline on steriods. Both just keep building.

lol
Dubai is far behind Chicago and that wont ever change.
Dubais skyline looks absolutely horrible and cannot
compete with dozens of cities around the world.

Dubai relies on height, at first i rate dubai skyline bad until i went there recently and was impressed with their skyline. I think dubai is on par with chicago.

New york, hk and shanghai are all in top 5 along with dubai and chicago.

The next top 5 (not in order) would be singapore, shenzhen, KL, Toronto and guangzhou.

Baring Dubai and the big Chinese cities (Shanghai & Shenzen).... I've been to a lot of the "big players" when it comes to cities with impressive skylines (thank navy).

NYC still takes the cake for me in terms of grandeur. The city truly gives zero damn about how much and how high. It's like nothing else.

While HK has more 150m+ buildings. I can confirm they are significantly more spread out around Hong Kong island & Kowloon. 95% of NYC's 150m+ are either crammed into Midtown or Downtown. Even in HK's Central where the bulk of the buildings are, HK didn't feel anywhere near as dense Manhattan do to Manhattans ridiculous amounts of mid-rises that cram any space physically available throughout the entire island. Hong Kong is a prettier skyline but in terms of pure varity, bulk and crazy when I think of the poster child of what everyone imagines as "the" city... NYC is the first and only thing that comes to mind.

Tokyo is unique in the in terms of vastness it significantly larger than any of the cities in the sense that its urban sprawl looks genuinely endless, but it lacks the uniform skyline that the other cities have, as all the large/tall buildings are situated around the main train stations.

Chicago & Toronto feels more or less like Manhattan at 50% scale, with nicer streets lol

Singapore reminded me poor mans of Hong Kong, minus the majestic mountains and iconic Harbor

Places like L.A., Philly, Yokohama, Houston, Paris, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Seattle etc.. have nothing on the above cities mentioned

It doesn't. It needs those towers to look good.
