I guess the Tampa 20/20 folks didn't like my ideas. Neither of the two I submitted have shown up on the site. (for a rooftop bar/observation deck, and a City Target style general merchandise retailer) No one else has made those particular suggestions that I saw either.

20\20is a useless website. I can't get it to do anything and I have 50/50. Bad ideas seem to die. Lol.

Not sure but I thought roof bars are in now.

^Yep, I think you're right... I found this one,"Dining on a rooftop with views of downtown would be great!".

I guess they figured that was close enough.

It had a 183 rating, which is the highest upvote I've seen on anything so far.

It's odd, because they allow dumb ones to be put up like "Build a Columbia with water views, like they have in St Pete"... That restaurant is long gone first of all... And second of all, there's already a Columbia at the TBHC on Garrison Channel that offers water views.

And there are duplicates of suggestions like "Build a Publix" and "A great dessert destination similar to the dessert room at Bern's". And numerous iterations of "build some transit!", that all have a lot of upvotes.

Doesn't appear to be well run so far. They should hire me to mod it.

I always take the rating number. Then ask friends. Blah blah. You know what I mean. I live a few from Berns in tampa and get the "is it good?

Yes ,Sorry, it is expensive. You may love it but get the number. I personally love it. Can't afford, but have been lucky.

St pete DT, my favorite is moon under water. Best.

I made a couple suggestions, at one visit they were there and another not.

The site may be having issues but I don't its a lack of support by visitors or the webmaster...those are solid ideas so I can't see people not clicking the like button.

Haha, I made that one (roof top restaurant with a view of DT), the clear walkways, the retail in the garage, the public pool idea (not really that great) and a couple others....

Public pool is good actually. Though I think if it was to be part of Vinik's project, it would be done as more of a Harbour Island Athletic Club type of place. That could be pretty interesting. Build a big place with features like a gym, swimming, saunas, raquetball, and other activities of that sort. Maybe go full bore and do spa/salon features too, with a nice membership rooftop club to compete with Tampa's existing rooftop member clubs. And have the residents of your developments and hotel guests automatically gain access to the place (paid for with a monthly assessment of course. Maybe a CDD), and outsiders can buy a membership, or a day's access. Then your respective individual buildings could have more basic offerings, like a little exercise room and pool, while still being able to tout themselves alongside that blinged out facility a short distance away.

Wow, thanks for elaborating on my thought. It's a much better idea than I gave it credit for. I was putting out ideas that I thought would be worth feedback but didn't realize at the time they only allowed others to 'like' suggestions..

I suggested to use the top of the South Regional Parking Garage to build convention space or a multi use event area, but it was not listed by the site.

I resubmitted the ones I submitted before, and I put up two more...

"A central plaza with a monumental fountain or other landmark to serve as a focal point"

And "create an architectural style suited to Tampa. Big shady overhangs, clean lines, tropical feel"

(just an example. They're supposed to come up with their own)

Haven't seen any of them show up.

Yeah, not sure why there's nowhere to actually discuss things.

Was that on there? Dang, I'm trying not to repeat, even a variation on a theme.

Both of those are great. NYC and Chicago have central focal points like Millennium park...also need a new theme, not just more 'Channelside' architecture. ...

One of my ideas is for a pedestrian only thoroughfare, similar to the of Church St. in Burlington, VT. Sided by locals restaurants, shopping and retail, and some national chains. Have the second floors of buildings open for retail and restaurant space as well overlooking the street. Also similar to Lincoln Rd. in Miami.

Yes all good ideas! I've been to Lincoln Rd in Miami before, good spot. I'm envisioning one of the renderings outside the Amalie Arena looking like this somewhat.. If so that's a good thing. The idea about a monument is a good idea, there should be a focal point throughout this sprawled out waterfront district..I def like the architecture in that tropical picture by Jason.. would go along nicely with the public pool idea. That's always something seeming to be missing with this Florida location compared to St pete/clearwater is our lack of a nice beach..

I think a modernist architectural style that brings together...

• Efficient 'green' building techniques.

• High function for peds and occupants... Great circulation spaces through buildings (Sort of like what is done in cold climates, but at ground level, not underground or above ground), wide walkways with cafe seating, landscaping, benches, bountiful outdoor areas like plazas, terraces and balconies, and every passive technique in the book known to keep people cool in outdoor areas. Especially water features. I would probably have fountains, water walls and little canals and pools all over the place.),

...combined with an aquatic/tropical visual feel, would be pretty sweet.

I really hope they don't do a 'Celebration' type style, or anything that looks old fashioned or faux historic.
