The Shire of Kalamunda has been really pushing for the car parks to be removed from next to the station and replaced with higher density mixed use developments - I was quite surprised to actually hear that at various meetings especially with the other issues regarding density and development around the Shire.

If there are large car parks here people are likely to park there for the airport and get the train one stop!

Somehow need to discourage long term parking for the airport. But there is also a balance as there is a need for a ToD - but as this is will also remain an end of line station for some time, the govt are wanting to get people who currently drive into the city to transfer onto the train (and so they need to park / transfer somewhere). Additionally, in time there will be the airport parallel runway not too far away and so apartments may not be so attractive (and this needs to be recognised so they don't get a NIMBY backlash from new residents of the ToD when they move ahead with the airport masterplan).

Transperth parking at all stations is limited to 24 hours, except weekends -
though you have to enter after 12.01am Saturday and exit by 11.59pm Sunday.

There is no way to purchase a ticket more than 24 hours so unless someone is going to fly out and return within 24 hours then there is no issue here.

If residential properties fall within a certain noise contour then they need to be designed with noise treatment in mind (windows oriented away, double glazing etc.). State Planning Policy 5.1 controls this. They may also have to have a notification on the title which basically says they are not allowed to complain about noise from aircraft.
