Los Angeles... My Los Angeles

Here are pictures of the Los Angeles I like to photograph. It may be familiar to most, or not, who knows, but these are the parts of town I am drawn to. For people not familiar with Los Angeles I just wanted to mention that I took all these shots using the Red Line Subway as my mode of transportation. If some of these photos look familiar it's because I also have posted some of these on the SSP as dktshb. Anyway, here are the pictures:

I'll start with Downtown (South Park, Little Tokyo, Historic Core and Toy District):

Nice street scenes. Gives you a good idea of what it's like to be there.

Nice pics, but I have to say very misleading... LA and especially downtown is dead. Only cars and offices!

Actually the shiny central buisness district is dead at night but the Historic Core and Little Tokyo are very busy, especially on the weekends. You know there are over 40,000 residents with a density averaging over 13 thousand people per square mile that call Downtown home... (places directly west of there have densities of 51 thousand to 38 thousand per square mile and the two hoods are connected by the purple and red line subway ). Oh and Broadway, the Fashion District and the Toy District are a huge draw especially for the latino community. Little Tokyo is very busy too.

Maybe it was a bit harsh, but during the times I have been there I hardly saw a soul or restaurants, and what I meant was, that in these pictures it looks like LA has a "normal" dense and lively downtown, which is not the case and 40,000 residents is hardly impressive...

But as i said nice pics, just misleading:-)

I don't understand what is so misleading about... these pictures were taken on a regular day in LA and this is the way these areas look on a regular day. I don't think these pics are trying to portray anything different.

Yep for a city of 4 million 40 thousand downtown is a bit on the slim side. However these pictures were taken on 2 days... Thursday morning from about 10:00 AM to about Noon and the Little Tokyo on a Sunday afternoon around 4:00 PM. There is nothing misleading about these pictures and actually both parts of town, if anything tend to be busier than these pictures portray.
