Good news, although environmental protection is entirely at the whim of political cycles - this wouldn't have happened under Barnett Govt. It's not really good enough, the laws are shit. No continuity.

Something along similar environmental lines...

The proposal for a waste site on one of the “most important” botanical areas in the State has been withdrawn.

The Whicher Scarp is very special. Although is it on the Whicher Scarp or just near it?

You can't blame him, he thinks 2.5 billion year old landforms are 6,000 years old. So what is the big deal?

Though if they’re only 2.5bn years old that would make them around 4000 years old in his cosmology. About when Moses was begat.

On. The plan was to extract gravel from the site (where there is currently bushland) and turn the leftover land into landfill for most of the Southwest.

I noticed a discussion on Linkedin, that Linley Lutton died? I don't think he was that old either?

There is a notice in the West Australian death notices.

Only 65.

http://www.westannouncements.com.au/...611&fhid=14432

A little bit of bio:
https://theconversation.com/profiles...-lutton-298755

Quotes:

“At the city level, it destroys Perth’s unique visual characteristics, it creates internal traffic chaos, it consumes one of Perth’s most beautiful public parks, and it’s not authentic to Perth in terms of its appearance and design,” the lobby group’s head, Linley Lutton, said in a radio debate in 2012.

An extremely lengthy article written in 2013 about Elizabeth Quay, by Dr Lutton:

It certainly is a dark day, almost as dark and gloomy as the Lutton dystopian view of Elizabeth Quay...

Lutton absolutely refused to concede that we needed any waterfront skyscraper developments whatsoever.

There is parkland immediately adjacent (supreme court gardens / governors residence) that should be made public use 24x7 with lighting and garden upgrades, alongwith of course the removal of the esplanade car park.

Perhaps the City of Perth could call it Lutton gardens to honour his name and his passion for a waterfront green oasis.

Wouldn't it be great, if the City of Perth council and state government planners actually watched that video and implemented all it's suggestions

Well... I mean the two-way roads project has been going on for a fairly long period. I'd argue that most of Perth's CBD/urban roads aren't wide enough to do a lot of what is suggested there...
