Samarinda claim build the largest Mosque in SEA [COMPETED]

09/10/2005 08:19

Wow that's quite amazing? Anybody know how much is the population of Samarinda? I'm just wondering why they need such a big mosque? I wouldn't be surprised if they make it somewhere in Java.

A very expensive landmark :P

But I agree with Mac, the one in Surabaya looks very good. Haven't seen the Makassar one tho.

Oh, and before these new mosques, i think Istiqlal used to be the largest at one point in time, right? CMIIW.

I think the Surabaya's Al-Akbar mosque has a much stronger Middle Eastern architectural influence.

I still prefer the Makassar's.

Yeah, column would be good, pillars can be used in this sense too IMO. Masts are usually used for ship's sail (tiang layar) or tall radio antennas, while posts are used for all things like lamp post, or signs. Someone correct me if i'm wrong,k?
