Ditton has a good case for reopening, MerseyTravel has safe guarded the site on that basis since it closed.
Its catchment is all of Hale Bank going south and Ditton itself which lays to the north of the station site, which is currently served by Hough Green. But that is on a different line, you cant catch a train from Hough Green to Runcorn for instance, and in order for anybody in that estate to get a train to Chester they have to go via LPY which I cant imagine is an idea situation.
In the past the two lines did used to link up there but its been gone more years than I can rememeber.
There isnt much if any case for reopening Hale Bank station as its open land, Speke station might be another matter as its all trading estates now.

Once the curve reopens there is more scope for Ditton station

Speke station could be interesting given there is a lot of activity in the area in terms of development, commercial and residential and of course it would make it the nearest station to the airport if they moved the site further along the line to Speke Hall Avenue.

Good or bad news that Manchester to Leeds electrification has been cancelled?

The Open /Merseyrail

Merseyrail got an unexpected plug on the golf coverage over here - they showed the line and all the great golf courses you could reach by taking the northern line to southport.
