LACHLAN PRECINCT

VIKING BY CROWN
Waterloo

Pix taken 15 September

View from east of south end at corner of O'Dea Avenue & Sam Sing Street.

The east side on Sam Sing Street.
The crappy camera has actually muted the colour's intensity.

The aqua is the only colour that does not work for me as the blue of the shutters is a royal blue. I would have liked to see that repeated in the colours below the shutters.
I guess it is just a matter of taste.
Otherwise I find it a more interesting building than most, and it is so good to have something a bit different in the area.

In reality the 'aqua' is a brighter green - my camera is past its used by date and is increasingly enfeebled.

Not since that kerfuffle about the 'church' hall plan which crashed and burned. The only DAs or S96s have been for the restructuring of that space.

NB The spelling of 'Divercity' - someone was being a smartarsch.

Also noticed that GG's is not to be under the Divercity tower and has been replaced by something else, for which I saw some notice but I've forgotten what it said. Seems to be a showroom or salon or similar.

Dentist

I think that spot where GG was supposed to go is now taken over by a Dentist & they have almost completed their fit out.

VICTORIA PARK

PLATINUM

Tower A = 3 George Julius Avenue
Zetland

Despite my doubts early this year, it looks like Platinum will be completed and occupied before year's end.
The scaffolding is almost completely off all 5 buildings of the complex.
Pix taken this week.

View of the tower from Kirby Lane/Ascot Avenue across Nuffield Park, ie, view westwards.

View of tower through crŕpe myrtle & eucalyptus in Nuffield Park from Ascot Avenue.

View from Kirby Walk.

Corner of Kirby Walk & George Julius Avenue.

South side on Kirby Walk.

The original design for this tower had a much more visually interesting fašade but CofS planning as it usually does, reduced any imaginative details to graph paper. Further 'consultation' resulted in this design which is somewhere in between but leaning to the conservative. Still it is better than I feared.

The majority of the colours are mismatched. I'll hold back form final judgement until complete, but the colour stylist is colour blind.

I would have preferred the 'Star Destroyer' to be flat grey with a couple of radar turrets up top.

LACHLAN PRECINCT

VISTA 881 & Wulaba Park
Waterloo

Architect: Tony Caro Architecture

View from north at Shell servo.
Sth Dowling Street on left, Amelia Street on right of project with Hatbox Place E-W in front of buildings.
Prominent corebox is the 25 storey tower.
Brick building on left is heritage infrastructure building.
In background VSQ North in Victoria Park.

Closer view of buildings fronting future Hatbox Place and Wulaba Park showing 'jazzy' black, white & yellow tiling detail.
It's cheeky and I'm amazed Caro has convinced HT to let him do it. Caro also got HT to allow colour on the Meriton Serviced Apartments (8 Defries Avenue) in Victoria Park while the other two complexes, Imperium & Vertex, although good architecture were reduced to monochromatic Twilight Zone.

Same building but showing its western side on future Amelia Street.
Mid-distance is the almost completed ORE building on Amelia & Murray streets.
Background is Crown Square on Lachlan Street.

Same again: in case you missed it, close-up of colour detail.

Tomorrow, Saturday, at the Tote Building on Joynton Avenue & Wolseley Grove, Zetland, the city model of Green Square will be on view. Take lift to upper level.
Council is also having a Have Your Say Day in Joynton Park amidst the Saturday Markets.

3 birds - 1 stone.

One thing you cannot say is that Council does not provide AMPLE opportunities to have your say nomatter how informed or not you are.

Rumour has it from two unconnected sources, neither of them directly connected to the project, that

EAST VILLAGE CENTRE WILL OPEN OCTOBER 22ND

...allegedly.
