Thanks for posting. Is it official map? If yes then why is J&K not fully coloured in white?

See the gap between kozhikode, mangalore, banglore and mysore. Its high time that Kannurians start demanding for a Kannur/Thalassery-Mysore national highway instead of impractical projects like Thalassery-Mysore railway. That will be good for Kannur airport too.

This is NOT the official one.See the source for details.
Also, this shows ONLY the NHs NOT the State/Country boundaries. So is the case with J&K.

But it shows the disputed international borders in a different color from the rest of the India. Let us hope some one wont print this in a paper and use it in India. He/she might get arrested under sedition charges.

Not only that , there is some other mistakes too

The road shown as NH 766 (old NH 212) is actually SH 28 (Kozhikode - Nilambur- Gudallur, (Mavoor Road & extention) That is not an NH.
The actual NH 212 is Wayanad road which is Starting from Kozhikode ENDS AT Kollegal via ,-Kalpetta - S. Bathery - Gundalpett- Nanjangud & Mysore.

So Aslesh , your gap is not really wide as you think .

That is schematic map not to scale. The gap is actually more wider than shown. It is in fact Gundalpet not Guddalur.

Don't know what is the max at four laned NH-47, where everyone crosess the 90/100 mark .
You can travel at 70kmph in "other roads" in Kerala.Eventhough it is clearly mentioned as for Motor Car,our "yeman" will stick on 60kmph where it is mentioned as for "Light motor vehicles including motor cab".There is no separate speed limit for National Highways.IMHO,In National Highways and State Highways having dual carriageway the speed limit shall be 80kmph & 65kmph (80% of the design speed) as National Highways are having the design speed of 100kmph and State Highways (single/dual) 80kmph.

FYI,The driver of a vehicle travelling at 100kmph sees an interceptor atleast 500m ahead definitely tries to take his feet from the accelerator and by the time you reach the interceptor the speed may reduce to 60 or below. He may think he won't booked.Wrong, his speed is already recorded even at 500m ahead. This you can watch the whole procedure from the interceptor vehicle.
Next time make a try to observe this procedure.

Aslesh, Which one deserves the NH status ,the most ?

Kannur - Mattannur - Iritty - Gonikupai- -Mysore
Thalassery -Mattanur - Iritty - Gonikupai- Mysore
Thalassery- Manathavadi- Bavali- HD kota - Mysore

I feel the second one is the busiest.

You are right, it is better to try Kannur Mysore national highway than a Railway line

I feel the second one is the busiest.
There was a news report that state government has proposed around 7 state highways to be upgraded as national highways. Thalassery - Mattannur - Iritty - Gonikupai - Mysore and Thalassery - Kuthuparamba - Nedumpoil - Mananthavady - Sulthan Bathery where two among them. I don't know what happened to those proposals. May be the decision is pending from the part of NHAI.

Thalassery-Mysore connectivity is given more priority due to historical reasons. The current interstate highway was named as Thalassery-Coorg road by British people. Also British had plan for Thalassery-Mysore railway which was dropped during second world war. But currently both Thalassery-Mysore and Kannur-Mysore connectivity are equally important.

Anyway here the real issue is not Kannur Vs Thalassery. Kannur-Mattannur road will be developed as airport highway. Thalassery-Valavupara road will be upgraded under KSTP phase II. But the real problem will be the portion in Karnataka state. They are not going to develop or maintain that portion. That is why we need a national highway. It really doesn't matter whether it is from Kannur or Thalassery.

Thalassery- Manathavadi- Bavali- HD kote - Mysore route is a longer route and won't beneficial to Kannur District. Vadakara-Mananthavadi-Bavali-Mysore was included under those new NHs proposed by the state government. It has the same problem of Kozhikode-Mysore highway. It passes in through two national parks. So night traffic will be banned.

Nod for KSTP second phase

Quote:
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central government has cleared the second phase of the Kerala State Transport Project, Public Works Minister M. Vijayakumar said here on Sunday.

The Minister told the media that the Centre cleared the project after much pressure from the State. The World Bank had earlier backed off from funding the project and the Centre had indicated that the second phase could not be considered because the State had exceeded its borrowing limit.

The Minister said the project envisaged an outlay of Rs.1,327 crore, of which 20 per cent was to be met by the State government. (The major roads proposed to be developed under the project include the Chengannur- Ettumanoor-Muvattupuzha stretch of the Main Central Road, Punaloor- Ponkunnam-Thodupuzha stretch of SH 8 and the Kasaragod- Kanhangad road.)

Thanks to Ajith
Good to see nice roads in Kerala, Our State highways are much better than so called National highways, we are always discussing about four line or six line and even not re carpeting the national highways for last nine years. it is still a nightmare to the last month journey to Manglore via NH17
