Is it not possible to revive/develop old Aluva-Munnar road? It can be helpful in connecting Nedumbassery(CIAL) Airport and Munnar.
--
This time, Munnar flower show advertisement hoardings are placed all across many central districts of Kerala and I wonder why this much desperate? Are tourists skipping Munnar?

Exactly. there is no price control on the accommodation in Munnar. Rooms are expensive. so obviously tourists are shying away from munnar.

Back 2 decades, people around Thodupuzha rarely depended on Ernakulam city. They know about Aluva(Railway) and Kottayam. After the KSTP road development in the 2000's and the development happening in Thodupuzha to turn the town as a business destination, things are slowly changing.

KSRTC chain services mostly are between Muvattupuzha and Ernakulam in olden times. Once in 2 hours or so, a high-range bus (Thodupuzha/Moolamattom) will come; the frequency was less. Now, the traveling population from Thodupuzha to Ernamkulam area is vast in numbers and many old permits (in Kakkanad route especially) are revived. But, no good road to Kochi or other core urban regions in the western parts.

Coming to the topic, Are we destined to be a remote area for ever? Muvattupuzha-Kothamangalam-Thodupuzha people and our leaders must unite to develop good highways and possibly railway linkage. Our future is not connected entirely on Agriculture. Backwardness is associated with Idukki district, at least in central midlands. This taboo must go away and can happen only with good connectivity to urban regions in the western areas.

Yes Thodupuzha now needed a Railway connectivity.
For a railway project govt says the protest from land owners against the land acquisition. Here land owners are in protest against the delay of land acquisition. Hopes there will be the railway connectivity for TDPA via Proposed SABARI line..
More chances are to the Sabari line will be end at Karimkunnam Near TDPA. This is nera to Muttam.

Also more HIghway is needed to TDPA to EKLM. The proposed Suburban Highway by PJ Joseph is in planning state. This will by-pass the bottle Neck of muvattupuzha town and MVPA-Kolenchery-TPNTRA road.

There is also another highway under pocess-- TDPA -ramamangalam.. Hopes that highway process will restart soon.. This also by-pass Muvattupuzha Route is via TDPA-manakkadu-parakkadavu-pandappilli---

That proposed highway is most probably through existing roads - Thodupuzha-Pandappilly-Aaroor-Pampakkuda-Choondi(reaching NH49 towards Thrippunithura). Even if they are successful in bypassing NH49, the distances will not reduce. The claim of Ernakulam-Thoudpuzha below 50kms is unrealistic through this route. But, it may be faster due to no major towns in that route.

I don't know why projects are announced claiming false informations? Proposed Kothamangalam-Thangalam-Ernakulam highway is claimed to be less than 30kms connecting Ernamkulam and Kothamangalam. Reality is, it is almost 40-45kms in length.

Current Road via MVPA-Kolchry-Trpntra is of 62 KMs. Proposed road will be around 50-55. as the current road is not straight from MVPA to Choondi/ Tripoonithura.
Also as said above there is no major cities will be there in this road. Now its very difficult to pass Muvattupuzha town as there is no good by-passes.

This road will be through chittoor (near manakkadu) as the KCA have a proposal for a cricket stadium. Although they started similler project in anchiri near tdpa, they are trying to start some project in that property.

Need to create Kattappana taluk

A new Kattappana taluk should be created in Idukki district with HQ in Kattappana town.

Villages:
From Idukki Taluk: Ayyappancoil, Kanchiyar, Kattappana, Erattayar
From Udumbanchola Taluk: Anavilasam, Chakkupallam, Anakkara, Vandanmedu

New villages should be created in Mariyapuram (from Upputhode), Painav, Cheruthoni, Vazhathope (all from Idukki), Thoppramkudy (from Vathikudy), Kamakshi (from Thankamony), Panikkankudi (from Konnathady), Kannampady (from Upputhara)

Arakkulam Panchayat (Arakkulam and Elappally villages) can be transferred from Thodupuzha to Idukki taluk. Kannampady village can be transferred from Peermade taluk to Idukki taluk. Arakkulam, Moolamattam, Elappally, etc are nearer to Idukki than Thodupuzha.

Villages in Idukki Taluk: Konnathady, Panikkankudi, Vathikudy, Thoppramkudy, Kamakshi, Thankamony, Mariyapuram, Upputhode, Idukki, Painav, Cheruthoni, Vazhathope, Kanjikuzhi, Kannampady, Arakkulam, Elappally

Such questions get answered in team-bhp or gearheads.in forums.

The road you are mentioning seems to be not well known. I've travelled from Thekkadi to Muvattupuzha last year. Taking KK road towards Kottayam and from Kanjirappilly take Erattupetta-Thodupuzha which may be the best option. Another option is to take Vandanmedu-Kattappana-Kulamavu-Thodupuzha road. Both are good. Be aware of Elephant crossing near Kulamavu.

The vagamon road is very scenic but narrow. Since you are going with Family

Kumily-Kattapana road is better to take

Thodupuzha gained few projects in the budget:
1. Thodupuzha-Ernakulam suburban highway project feasibility study

Some roads projects also going to complete within this financial year..

The Manakkadu road towards Parakkadavu ( Parallel road for TDPA _MVPA) , will be complete in this year..

The Nellappara-Madakkathanam Bye Pass also will complete this year..
This road goeas via Purapuzha-Nediayasala-Parakkadavu-Madakkathanam.. an easy way ro connect pala road and mvtpa raoad . Will help to reduce the traffic in TDPA Town.

Another good thing for Thodupuzha is if Vallikkada bridge near Avoli finishes, traffic from Thodupuzha to Kolenchery-Ernakulam side can use it through Avoli-Vallikkada-Peringuzha-Marady-Ooramana-Peruvammuzhy(NH49) road.

WHy parakkadavu? Why not via manakkad? What is the current status of the bypass?

Manakkad-Parakkadavu-Pandappilly-Muvattupuzha is the first road which goes parallel to the main route through Vazhakulam. The Nellappara-Purappuzha-Nediyasala-Parakkadavu road joins at Parakkadavu and may reach Kadalikkad. I've slight doubt that there is another Parakkadavu near Nediyasala.
