Infact Kollam Urban area is contigous upto Kayankulam and Kayankulam is 38 Kms away from Kollam city centre. So, a future Greater Kollam may be upto Kayankulam. You can reach Kollam city from Kayankulam in 45 minutes.

Good thing about North Kollam is two prominent towns Karunagapally and Kayankulam which starts right from the border of Kollam district. So the North Kollam urbanization is more quicj compared to South Kollam due NHs coastal proximity and for the high private investments in business/commercial projects.

This town is a historic town and once capital of Onattukara Kingdom (comprises Mavelikara, Kayamkulam, Karthikapally, and Karunagapally). Now also it is third urbanized town in Alappuzha after Alappuzha and Cherthala. Kayamkulam Town is fast expanding to suburban panchayats like Pathiyoor, Chettikulangara, Krishnapuram, Devikulangara, and Kandalloor. The entire area should be treated as one Urban Unit.

Reghu,

Very soon Kayamkulam-Oachira-Karunagapally belt can be a single urban center like Changanassery-Thiruvalla-Chengannur belt.

Karunagapally and Kottarakkara are way ahead of Varkala and Paravoor in terms of town infrastructure, business/commerical potential, and even developmentwise.

I do not know why you have put Karunagapally and Kottarakkara in 4 category as these tow towns should be in 2 or 3 category.

Please dont post stupid comments and make this thread also locked. Supreme court is not situated in Chennai. our government failed to proove our argument in court. & TN did well in that. Personally I think dam is indeed old and in some danger condition. but the fear and propaganda spreading through social media is over hyped.

salutes to you sir for bringing a sense of decorum to this thread,as to our earlier brother,sc judges were not made up of tamil that includes even one malayali k.t thomas sir, just like kerala pleaded its case we did ours, just think for a moment about situation if the verdict over which tn had no control gone against tn.

malayalis and tamils are the closest set of people in india culturally and linquistically both dont feel out of place in each others state,i think we have chosen s.c the highest authority for resolving disputes by our chosen constitution,we should all respect, but at the same time can try to mitigate each others mutual fears thro dialogue.

I have deleted all the posts except couple of them which were very meaningful.

We have created a separate thread for discussion on this issue in the Chaibar thread. Any discussions related to this issue has to be done there ONLY.

Reason: ONLY registered users can access the Chaibar. A single thread for opinions from both the sides.

Good to see the map and the markings for the proposed Kottayam municipal corporation.

Can you post the same for your proposed expanded Kollam Corporation?

The govt should make Corporations with more power and authority, rather than half baked powers, which make them redundant soon.

Corporations should have a Presidential system of elections for Mayors, so that the best person whom public can accept becomes Mayor and greater financial powers. Currently there are very limited tax revenues for them and greater responsibility placed on them...

Corporations should have authority only over Street Lighting, Public sanitation, city beautification, zoning, tourism, walkways etc, while key areas like roads, bridges, waste management, etc must be moved to independent companies like RBDCK or Suchitwa Mission etc.

Without overhauling corporation and municipal systems, it doesn't make any difference to the public.... Cochin and Trivandrum corporations are classic examples, how toothless they are
