This start-up village news is shocking if true. Maybe an attempt to move companies to Smart city as it's nearing completion.

Regarding Fin Robotics, they moved to Tvm nearly a year ago. Their office is near to Vazhuthacaud. Reason for moving is that they wanted a calm and quite place to work. SV was crowded.

Request you not to claim knowledge of things you don't know. It's not for quite and calm place that they relocated to Trivandrum.

There are no lobbies involved, rather its pure excellence of business acumen of its CEO Sanjay Kumar

Infact, I am a hardcore fan of Sanjay and being someone who had close associations with Mobme team, I always loved their out of box thinking and strategic approaches for growth.

When they started SV, I was wondering, whats the inherent advantage for Mobme in this sector. In all ways, it appeared more like a CSR initiative or public outreach program, as no direct business advantage could be developed between Mobme and SV

But Sanjay has literarily minted a new equation out of it. By launching SV, he was successfully able to design a new business vertical for Mobme thro' launching a digital platform and remote networking with Mobme as support partner thereby a direct income source.

Mobme as a promoter of SV has completed its target of partnering with Govt for a physical SV. They created a brand, an identity and an ecosystem, which now will assist the company to promote and sell a digital brand- SV around the world without need of Govt partnership.. They have launched a new company and digital platform called SV.CO

This is the returns for Mobme now. This is the model of prefect Win-Win situation. In this process, Kochi got a world class Start up hub, while Mobme got a new division for online startup platform. No wonder why Mobme is soaring more skies. I won't be surprised if Mobme would be next Infosys or TCS soon, if the leadership continues in this fashion.

The end result is that, SV is no more a physical center, rather an online brand solely belong to Mobme.

The physical entity now became under Kerala Govt's complete ownership with partnerships of DST. Mobme will continue support thro' technological mentorship.

The new entity now will be part of TIZ. Kerala govt donot have any online support mechanism, so such opportunities now will be handled by SV directly.

Good Job Sanjay and team.

Not claiming anything. Rohil and Suneesh are my friends. That's what they told me when I talked to them back in Sept 2014.

Mission Possible: Government Takes over Startup Village
Quote:
At a time when government entities are on a spree to dilute stake to private players, in a strange unprecedented development the Kerala Startup Mission takes over the physical space of the iconic Startup Village at Hi-Tech Park in Kalamassery. The transition will take place on January 1, 2016. The reason? Fulfillment of commitment to the Department of Science and Technology (DIST) and constraints of fund for scaling up. The 40 physical startups incubated with the Startup Village will sign a new agreement with Kerala Startup Mission to continue in Startup Village, which is the country’s first Public Private Partnership technology business incubator.

The role of MobME Wireless Solutions, the industry partner of Startup Village since its inception in April 2012, will be limited to that of a provider of the Digital Incubator Platform on www.sv.co.

Similarly, the Kerala Startup Mission will also take over the 1,600 sq ft space of Startup Village in Kozhikode and scale it up to a 5,000 sq ft incubation facility. It is learnt that the cost of operation of Startup Village comes to around Rs15-20 lakh per month.

Startup Village to come under new mission
Quote:

The second phase of the Startup Village at Kalamassery near Kochi is about to take off off with the cooperation of the Startup Mission.

Efforts are on to take over 15 acres of land from Kinfra at Kalamassery to set up a Technological Innovation Zone. Incubators focusing on biotechnology, electronics and knowledge are also on the anvil...

Is this going to be for good or bad? Now since it is being taken over by Start up mission, will the second phase works progress as fast as they have planned?

Mobme.. next TCS or Infosys ? LOL.
Seems like Mobme guys took the entire state for a ride while keeping the struggling company in limelight. Now we just want to know how much money went to each and everyone? Hope SV comes under the purview of CAG and lets see the figures rolling out.

Mobme is looting tax payers money in the name of SV

180 Crore corruption in the name of SV .. This scam is going to be bigger than Fraud City !! This 180 Crores went into the hands of Mobme and its fraud team. Politicians like Chandy/Hibi also might have got a share of it ..

Cross Posting ..

180 Crore Corruption in the name of Start Up Village .. When this is started, I raised the RED FLAG .. See whats happening in the name of Start Up Village

Another Fraud City kind of dealings

Well, Mobme is indeed has a strong financial crediblity. It has raised multiple rounds of venture capital and last round around 3 Million Dollar capital infusion.

AFAIK, their media unit is the only struggling now with loss being reported (as its circulation is too low being too niche and currently its establishing a brand identity)

Ofcourse, they are not dealing with an immediate saleable product like Infosys or TCS started off. They are venturing some of the unknown areas like Mobile digital platforms which are still in its early phases of evolution atleast in this part of the world.

Its a typical move of any start up entrepreneurship where you develop an idea, make it sustainable and leave by taking its returns/brand value. You cannot expect MOBME to keep glued to Start Up village like how Infopark or Technopark will keep its units. The basic difference here is Mobme SV is just a promoter, not owner as its Kerala govt being its owner.

Whats the source of Corruption here? The investors are venture capitalists who funded the start ups and Kerala govt provided a physical facility and provided internet support and similar infrastructure. These all continue to remain with the campus. Mobme was only working as operator of the facility and this was NOT-FOR-PROFIT support.

The profit here is the brand- SV which is owned by Mobme, so that they can now take it and develop into their private business vertical.

But the facility will continue and support will continue. So didn't understand how corruption is effected. Mangalam or Marunadan doesn't understand much of dynamics of modern angel funded industries like this and technology start ups are bit different from traditional business entities.

Otherwise, an ordinary college students started venture like Mobme which started off selling Vodafone Sim cards and bulk messaging services will never attract such huge levels of funding across the world to make itself into a multi-million dollar venture and one of top 10 innovators among Mobile industry.

@Reghu: Can you update the forum on what exactly is the level of activity @ TP Quilon? Details such as total number of operational cos/employment and builtup space (occupied and U/C) should be helpful.
