C.S.I. Mateer Memorial Church, started in 1838 in Trivandrum, is one of the oldest congregations in South India.

The architecture is in the simple Hallenkirche (Hall Church) style. The Church building is in granite, with a square bell tower with a vestibule beneath and a roof supported by Gothic arches. The Celtic cross is made of cut stone, and commemorates Rev. Mateer’s Irish background.

Masjid-i Jahān-Numā (Arabic: مسجد جھان نما‎‎, the 'World-reflecting Mosque'), commonly known as the Palayam Pally of Trivandrum, is the principal mosque of Trivandrum in Kerala, India. It is a Juma Masjid (Congregational Mosque).

The history of the Palayam Mosque at Trivandrum dates back to 1813 AD, when the British Indian Second Regiment was stationed here. It was then constructed as a small mosque (Pattalappalli), with an open place for 'ld' prayers.

Mother of God Church, Kozhikode

image hosted on flickr

Located close to Beach Road in Kozhikode, the Mother of God Church built in the Roman architectural style dates back to 1513 AD and is the only one of its kind in Kerala. A 200-year-old portrait of St. Mary adorns the wall of the 18th century Gothic cathedral built by Christian missionaries.

Locally known as Valiyapalli, it is the headquarters of the Roman Catholic congregation in Malabar. Designed by Italian architects, this ancient shrine is a tribute to Italian know-how and the skill of Indian craftsmen.

CSI St. Mary's English Church, Calicut

The foundation stone for the new plan was laid on 8 June 1863 and the church was completed in September 1864. The church was consecrated by Bishop Gell on 28 September 1864 and dedicated to God's service and named in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This church is unique in fostering its Anglican traditions. It is the only church in North Kerala Diocese which has a beautiful altar-piece. This altar-piece is a replica of one of the paintings by the Italian renaissance artist Raphael, named "Madonna del Granduca".The unique baptismal font of the church is carved out of a single solid block of blackwood (west coat Mahogany) by an unknown skilled local carpenter. The tie beam roof truss is all wooden and is a combination of collar-braces, queen- post truss, and distinct wooden arches of Oriental style (as found in the Persian Architecture of North Indian monuments). These arches make them unique among the British built churches in North Kerala Diocese.
