And both Pinarayi Vijayan and Nitin Gadkari are appreciating the work done by each other.
At-least party followers should follow them in the case of development.

Superfast ships to link major ports in Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government will soon launch super fast ship service connecting the important ports in the state. The services on the anvil are: Kovalam-Kanyakumar, Kochi-Thiruvananthapuram, and Kochi-Kozhikode. Wharfs and passenger terminals have already been constructed in Beypore and Vizhinjam ports. The project is mainly to service tourists. This was announced in the Assembly on Monday by minister for ports Ramachandran Kadannappally. The necessary infrastructure will be created in Beypore, Vizhinjam, Kollam and Kochi ports. “The super fast ship service can be operationalised with the existing facilities,” the minister said.

The basic infrastructure requirement for the super fast water transport includes a wharf and passenger terminal for passengers to embark and disembark. "Such facilities are available in Beypore and Vizhinjam," the minsiter said. In fact, big cruise liners call on Vizhinjam port annually though they are anchored few meters off-shore. The construction of a passenger terminal is presently on at Kollam. Mr Kadannappally also said that the government had decided to construct floating jetties in Kozhikode, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.

A floating jetty is a platform or ramp supported by pontoons or floating devices. It is usually joined to the shore with a gangway. The minister said that the testing of foreign-made hydrofoils that would ply along Kochi and Kozhikode was in its last leg. Last March, the then Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had announced that the Kochi-Kozhikode service would begin before Onam. Official sources said 130-seater air-conditioned double-engine ships would be used for the services that would, however, be restricted to daytime. To-and-fro daily services will be offered, and the cruise will take on an average four-and-a-half hours. The ship will have all modern facilities, including pantry, and entertainment facilities. It can cruise at a speed of 30 to 40 knots (one nautical mile is 1.852 km).

Tourists will find the ferry service more convenient as a trip by road will take at least six hours.

These Indian cities have become the new favourable business destinations
Sanghamitra Kar | ETtech | Updated: August 29, 2017, 08:43 IST

According to a recent report by EY, more consumers and more purchasing power is emerging beyond the metros, particularly in tier II/III cities.

[https://etimg]It's the season in the sun for tier-II and tier-III cities as many companies are eyeing the space in search of continued growth. These cities, once at the bottom of the pile, are seeing a spurt in investor activity.

In the last one year alone, relocation companies have seen a significant spike in demand across cities including Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune along with tier II cities like Cochin, Trivandrum, Ahmedabad, Coimbatore, Vizag, Baroda, Indore, Lucknow, Chandigarh have likely become the new favourable destinations for companies from across sectors.

Ramesh Agarwal, MD of Agarwal packers and movers notes that the company had seen a 15% growth from non-metro cities vs 8% from metros in the last financial year. “Coimbatore, Patna, Bhubaneshwar have been some of the few cities and surprisingly Agartala from North-East is also among the top.” He notes that growth in the metros have stagnated whereas non-metros are seeing huge demand.

He adds that millenials today are careerists and are not hesitant to settle in new cities with jobs that offer better remuneration. Agarwal adds that 80% of the age-group that corporate relocate is between 40-43 with the majority being males.

Rahul Pillai, CEO of Delhi-based Interem Relocations, explains, “Lower cost in real estate is one major advantage in these. Unlike in metros like Bengaluru or Mumbai which are quite expensive these days, setting up offices in these cities is relatively quite reasonable.” Office rentals in Delhi and Mumbai are approximately four to ten times higher than in tier II, III cities, and housing is two to three times costlier.
Pillai notes that availability of talent pool with cheaper costs is another advantage in these cities.

Swapnil Bhatnagar, an analyst who tracks tier II and III markets in IDC, says that apart from costs of construction and development any business looks out for the city with the right talent and infrastructure of the city or location becomes crucial.

He also notes that with many educational institutes coming up in tier II cities, availability of talent has become easier. “There is now a workforce which can be trained locally by these organizations.” He adds, “The demands across these cities have also been on the rise along with the economic spends which is leading to the growth of various organizations.”

Shivani Agarwal, COO of Formula Group says that many foreign organizations are now setting up their offices in these cities. “These cities are either more comfortable for living conditions, business conditions, resources availability as required by the foreign companies.”

According to a recent report by EY, more consumers and more purchasing power is emerging beyond the metros, particularly in tier II/III cities. Media consumption has also matured in these markets, and penetration of mediums like print, DTH and radio can even be higher than in metros.

Though these cities will be at the forefront in the coming year, metro cities will not stop growing but will keep expanding with newer areas become the developmental centre,” adds Bhatnagar.

Light Metro V/S Maglev Cobra.

Brazil is conducting trial runs for Maglev-Cobra an urban transportation solution using HTS super conductors and permanent magnets. It's a magnetic levitated vehicle with multiple short units allowing curves of 30 meters radius, ramps of 15℅ and velocity up to 70 km/h. When these short are connected the vehicle resembles a snake or Cobra.
The vehicle seems far more superior in terms of technology, construction costs will be lower, reduced energy consumption, reduced CO2 emissions, reduced noice etc.

Kerala State and Sharjah Emirate proposes a joint Investment of Rs 50K crore mutually in both states.

Quote:
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that Kerala and Sharjah would jointly spend about Rs. 50,000 crore in the next four years towards infrastructure development in the state.

This was decided in a discussion between the CM and ruler of Sharjah and member of the Federal Supreme Council of the UAE Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi. The CM also informed the Sultan that IT and tourism are two important factors that contribute to the economical development of Kerala, and that the state would like to hope that Sharjah would cooperate and partner the state in its infrastructure development projects in future.

The scheme to build houses for Malayalees in Sharjah was also discussed. The project is about high-raised towers with 10 apartments each, and would require 10 acres of land for this. This can be made a reality if both Kerala and Sharjah can cooperate.

There will be state-of-the-art medical treatment facility in this ‘family city’, and when this medical facility is developed into a big hospital, even the other people of Sharjah can avail the services of this hospital.

There are also plans to develop public schools with international standards, engineering college, medical college, skill development centres and much more.

The CM also requested for a 10 acre land in Sharjah where a cultural centre showcasing the rich culture and heritage of Kerala can be set up. There’ll also be an Ayurveda hub established in here. The CM also said that special Ayurveda packages would be introduced for guests arriving from Sharjah.

Pinarayi also pointed out that the expertise and background that Kerala has in the IT field could be used for mutual cooperation, and added that Kerala has a good project initiative and agency to encourage and nurture start-ups. He said that the start-up mission of Kerala could be instrumental in developing technical entrepreneurship among the youth of Sharjah.

The CM also hinted how the ‘back office’ works of the Sharjah government and other major companies there could be outsourced to Kerala.

Pinarayi also discussed the possibility of starting a medical centre with international standards with the investment of investors in Sharjah near the Kannur International Airport when it gets completed in 2018.

Kerala-Sharjah join hands for mega projects

Rs 50K crore worth projects planned in both Sharjah and Kerala jointly based on Inter-governmental discussions between Visiting Sharjah Ruler- H.H Sheikh Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi and Kerala Government.

Quote:
The Kerala cabinet on Monday presented a road map for cooperation between Kerala and Sharjah to visiting Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi.

The cabinet members, led by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, visited state governor justice (retd) P. Sathasivam's official residence and presented to the Ruler of Sharjah the document.

The document includes the proposal to construct a family city and a Kerala cultural center over 20 acres of land in Sharjah, among others.

Pinarayi explained that out of the 20 acres, 10 acres would be to set up a family center containing apartment blocks besides a state-of-the-art hospital.

In the cultural center, various cultural aspects of Kerala would be showcased and would be a permanent venue for conducting cultural programs and also an Ayurveda center.

Among the other projects put up for Al Qasimi's consideration were investment from Sharjah for a state-of-the-art hospital, to come up near the proposed Kannur international airport, scheduled to open next year.

The Sharjah ruler is in Kerala at an invitation extended by Pinarayi when he called upon him in Sharjah last December.

In the field of IT, Kerala, which has an excellent program to groom start-ups, has extended help to budding minds in Sharjah interested to enter the field of IT.

The Kerala government has said the state, with a good exposure in the field of IT, could be the venue for handling the back office operations of the Sharjah government and leading companies.

Another proposal envisages to set up a state-of-the-art educational campus in Sharjah that would have quality schools and higher education centers, including medical and engineering colleges.

Before meeting the cabinet, the ruler held a discussion with governor Sathasivam.

On Sunday, the Sharjah ruler and his group of high-ranking officials arrived here.

On Monday evening, he is scheduled to interact with the cream of the civil society of the state and also the successful Kerala businessmen who have made it big in the Middle East.

On Tuesday, the Calicut University will confer upon him an honorary doctorate at a function, which was to be held in Kozhikode, but due to security reasons it will now be held here.

On Wednesday, he would arrive in Kochi to attend a private function being organized by the Middle East business honcho M.A. Yusuf Ali.

The next day, he would return home from here.
