New York's old skyline is the prime example of slave labour...

looks like the highest floor is far below we expected it to be, only short above the observatory...

Funny how you don't count the spire of 1WTC but count the ENORMOUS spire of this tower in the height figure.
I don't count Kingdom Tower's spire. However, I use the 1007 meter figure until I am able to determine where the building ends and where the spire begins. For this I need to know where the top occupied floor will be as well as the width of the upper part of the tower. Without this info there is no way to determine where the roof is

i copied the picture into paint, cropped the upper and lower parts off so i only had the building and stretched the whole thing to 1007 pixels vertically. Then i took out the colored part and looked how many pixels they have and i got to about 670.

That means the highest occupied room may be only at about 670m or even less. However i do not know if mechanical floors above that part are included, so it might be as well taller.

does anyone know where the highest occupied floor of Burj Khalifa is?

edit: i just found main roof of burj khalifa is at 624m. so if 670m would be the main roof of the kingdom tower, it would quite disappoint me, since this would basically be a Burj Khalifa with a few floors and a far taller spire added.

Hi Killer.

The 624.1 figure comes from the plans height to the floor of the highest named level which is officially 634.1 as the CTBUH measures. I made a list years ago on what points on the structure could be considered 'the roof' and the floor of the section above the highest named level was one of 8.

I could list them again but the point here is there is no roof on the BK, the KT, and many other structures around the world. There is a reason the top minds in many fields relating to tall structures make up the CTBUH and decided to drop the height to roof measure.

The 3 official height measurements in use today accurately portray the height of tall structures.

Anyone still pushing the height to roof measure in here, needs to move on ...

Ray.

i would count this to the top of the spire, just like the burj dubai simply because it is such an integral part of the design.

Fury was talking about how this and the Burj which don't have an obvious roof and it being imposible to define where one was, whereas 1WTC has a very obvious roof......

I have a measurement system that solves all of this.

Yea but a spire is still a spire, whether the building tapers into it or not. I see what your saying, but it doesn't make me want to count this tower or BK spire more than WTC.

But that's the thing, this and the Burj don't have a roof, thus no way to tell where the spire starts........

Where the top floor ends, just like the WTC.
