Thumbs up DUBLIN: Zaha Hadid proposed tower, North Wall Quay

Treasury Holdings is showing no signs of letting up on it's Dublin development portfolio. This is it's latest proposal for North Wall Quay.

http://www.treasuryholdings.com/NorthWallQuay.htm

Designed by Pritzker prize winning architect, Zaha Hadid, this will be an inspiring third generation office building located at the North Wall Quay Dublin 1, adjacent to The O2 and the East Link Bridge. This property comprises over 50,000 sq.m of accommodation.

I like it!!!

Is it just me or is it shaped like a pint with a tap on it?

Dont think this is aqua vetro odlum, this is just the revised proposal for the point site. Aqua is monte vetros twin or whatever on GCD.

This looks very similar to hadids u2 proposal though:

Yeah she has simply moved the scheme from the U2 site by the looks of things but it still looks very good on that image.

Also, yes, you are right. It is not aqua vetro. I will ask a mod to change title.

It certainly is unique...

Nice to see not everyone is giving up during the recession.

Location is beside the East Link Bridge (just to the right) and the O2. Three rivers/canals converge here. The U2 tower will be across the river whilst the Point tower will literally be next door.

As regards location it's a perfect spot for a landmark building. Id say this will make Hadid less sore at losing the U2 tower (they had threatened legal action), but now that it appears TH has just lifted the scheme to plonk it on the Northside of the river, they will be pleased with that id say. This comes on the back of the Dublin Docklands Authority decision to allow a cluster of higher building at this location in the North Lotts.

It looks, from the image, like it has that huge section jutting out the back and front near the bottom. Looks interesting if a little risky. It looks like the building will look very different from several different angles. For some reason I want to keep coming back and looking at that image! It looks very elegant from this angle. More views needed though.

Seem like the U2 tower could well end up with this across the river in a kind of "look at what you could have been" statement

Foster v Hadid anyone?

If this one works the same as her u2 one, then it looks like the luas line would travel under the bridge connecting the two blocks.

Your right. Extraordinary the circumstances seem almost perfect to use the exact same design on the North side of the river.

This is what the tower scheme is replacing

The side we can see looks exactly the same as image 5 there. Is it exactly the same? Looks like it may not have been altered at all. Looks more Dubai then a city in this part of the world....of course we mostly miss the sun! Of all the highrises proposed in the city this looks far and away the best IMO and makes the proposed U2 tower look ordinary. Love to see it built. It's not an exceptionally tall building and would not be the tallest in Dublin of what is proposed (id say it's around 100m) but it's the awesome design of it.

I see a giant letter 'N', but it's a very smart looking 'scraper.

Seems they changed the cladding.. more shiny, less white.

I think the prettier side may be facing away from the city

Just want to ask - as soon as other angles of view are available I hope they are posted here. Even I may miss it! Of course someone has made the observation against this that the Conference Centre looks like the keg!

+1, though some people are not too impressed about it from comments I have read elsewhere.
