Did JLT ever suffered a moschito problem, or is that an automatic generic response, with not much thought put to it?

Maybe a very localised one at some point ages ago, but with the amount of chemicals put into the lake these days I am pretty sure nothing can survive it.

I think I have only ever had 1 or 2 in my unit in 5 years! and never bitten near the lake. It was worse in the Springs :P

Green light for Tamweel Tower reconstruction
After months of speculation as to whether there would life in Tamweel Tower again, former residents, owners, developers and everyone else involved can heave a sigh of relief as Emirates 24|7 can reveal that reconstruction has been officially secured.

The Owners Association of Tamweel Tower, has confirmed in a statement to Emirates24/7 that it has obtained the permission to open a bank account. On the ground, this means that a contractor can now be awarded and a contract for the reconstruction may be signed.

It had dried out after a day, so I doubt thats going to be long enough for an infestation to start.

1st disaster a few weeks ago Pad Thai

Then yesterday Pad Kee Mao which was completely devoid of any flavour whatsoever quite a miracle for a dish containing Thai Basil, Fish Sauce, Garlic all 3 elements which have strong flavours.

K O T at Goldcrest Executive does a much better job of providing dishes with an authentic flavour just a shame the restaurant is lacking atmosphere and the prices are higher

Tried KOT when it first opened but was very disappointing and never went back, maybe they improved?
Little Bangkok at least has Thai staff, and a decent atmosphere and customers, which is more than can be said for many establishments. The food may not be the most authentic, but there is pretty poor choice around really.. and they cant all be Mango Tree
I went right off Merlions King recently too, but tried GunSmoke steakhouse (MAG tower) last night and really enjoyed it.

I think the ones we use most often are Inlay, Fusion and Little Bangkok.. we are very happy JLT has so much choice now

The new Chinese in Cluster F, Star Lake is pretty good I thought. When I say pretty good, I mean, it's simple, basic Chinese food, executed very well and the prices are good too.

There's a new Italian right down the other end that's very good too, although a wee bit on the pricey side: http://www.pinocchiodubai.com/

Maple Leaf Restaurant will be opening soon in Cluster V, if you haven't been to their branch on Beach Road, you're in for a treat.

Andy

Not truly authentic I will put up with but totally tasteles food is a cardinal sin for any restaurant to commit. Two for two means they will never get another chance from me simple. Merlions King was doomed from the start the crab dish was a waste of time with virtually no meat and the staff were ruthless and un-helpful when running their loss leading Groupon offer.

One of the best places I've experienced here is Il llago (V) although haven't been for about 6 months. Good italian food and competitive prices. Firm favourite is Pizza Express (A) even better now they have an alcohol license and also good value for drinks is UBK with an average menu to accompany.

Slimbo,

I found it just had a wander around my cluster, good that its in one of the vacant plots on the podium level.

I was in Koh Phangan 2 weeks ago and got taken to a Canadian burger place then run by two ladies from Montreal. Had the most amazing Poutain - Fries, Gravy, Cheese and topped with pulled pork it was simply stunning. Won't get the pork here unfortunately but I am salivating at the prospect
