TimeFree Innovations Inc. CEO Philip Adrian Atilano

Filipino startup eyes global expansion
How a Mapun Island native became a tech company CEO

Quote:

When Philip Adrian “Chino” Atilano of Mapun Island, the most remote town of Tawi-Tawi, came to study in Zamboanga City after more than 24 hours aboard a motorboat, he did not know how to send an e-mail. With thirst for knowledge, he learned about the Internet, went on to graduate with a degree in electronics engineering from Ateneo de Zamboanga University and co-founded a technology company using an innovative application to resolve the problem of long queues.

Chino has been the chief executive of TimeFree since December 2012. He left Smart Communications Inc. as a transmission engineer in September 2013 to focus on growing TimeFree, a virtual queuing solutions company that enables users to remotely get a queue e-ticket using their smartphone and sends alerts regarding their position in the queue. This means customers no longer need to waste hours falling in line. The company now has presence in the Philippines, Hong Kong and Malaysia and plans to expand to the US soon.

Maybe we can do horizontal drilling. We should suck all the oil in Sabah from Tawi tawi.

I think there's a boat plying directly from Zamboanga City to Mapun Island. If you are in Tawi-Tawi already. Boats could also bring you to Mapun from Bongao, the capital

I think boats plying to Mapun Islan dock at the small private piers along Baliwasan Seaside and not on Zamboanga's main port

9 Things to Do: Simunul Island, Tawi-tawi
Choose Philippines

1) Visit the first mosque in the Philippines.

Originally built by Sheik Karimul Makhdum in 1380. Although the mosque has been redeveloped, the original pillars of the mosque were retained.

2) Visit the tomb of Sheik Makhdum.

The Sheik was the first Muslim missionary in the Philippines.

3) See one of the largest trees in the country.

Yep, it's found at the heart of Simunul Island! The roots of this tree form a semi-lagoon where you can swim and enjoy a cool bath.

4) Swim at Tawi-tawi's beautiful white beaches.

5) Hire a boat for the island tour.

What's a good alternative to walking on the white sand and swimming in the clear waters? Well, experiencing the coast aboard a boat!

6) Bike around or hire a motorcycle.

7) Taste Tawi-tawi's delicacies.

8) Take a walk along the shore (as far as you can) during low-tide.

9) Take pictures of the scenery.

If you are in Bongao, you might want a trek to Bud Bongao.
