ECUADOR | Neo Historic Architecture/Arquitectura Neo Histórica

Hi,

I am wondering if there are any new or recently constructed buildings which are built in a historic architecture style.

I currently have a thread in the architecture forum which features newly constructed buildings that are built in historic form.

Please see thread here:

http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1022349

I wanna like to have a few examples from Ecuador added so please feel to post examples in the above thread.

Thanks in advance!

Does complete restoration of old bulidings count? Centro de Arte Contemporaneo is a great example as well as Casa Gangotena and Plaza Grande boutique hotels.. Other examples are the house that hosts Unasur and Itchimbia's Palacio de Cristal which was restored as an all glass center whose roof is the old Mercado Santa Clara, a roof tailored in France in forged iron

Based on the projects shown on the master thread, I think that the Basilica del Voto Nacional in Quito qualifies as a good example. It was completed circa 1980's and is is built in a gothic style.

You want to build a traditional house?

This material overview is of great help -
while of course your local materials have to be considered, as well as weather conditions:

Cities and houses are made by the people. And where they build, they should consider going vernacular/traditional,
to get something that is sustainable, eco-friendly, valuable, affordable, beautiful, livable and eternal.

Agree with this - we need to stop levelling and uglyfying our cities
with bland uniform globalist-modernist architecture, that looks the same everywhere:

Classical and traditional architecture is the base we build upon.

"The symbolic hard currency of architecture is classical,...
It's gold in the bank. The other stuff is leveraged buy-outs and soybean futures."

- Jaquelin T. Robertson

“The thing of first importance in architecture is beauty.”
- Zivkovich-Connolly

Architects, elevate our architecture further.
But always be aware where we come from and what makes a place a good place to live and stay around!

A caricature by architect, planner and theorist Léon Krier:

Real estate demand of the people - versus - contemporary architecture education
