VARNA - Varna Stadium (30,000)

Varna stadium and sprot complex:

parameters:

capacity:

lower stand: 11,478
second stand: 14,888
---
2,216 business seats
360 VIP seats
50 seats for disabled people
100 press seats

car park: 716 cars

http://www.sportcomplexvarna.com/

The construction started in early 2008 with demolition of the old city stadium. But the project was set on hold soon after, due to the crisis and some funding troubles. The project is still on ground work, and construction is expected to be resumed this year. The completion date is set for 2011 but as of the recent consequences it surely will face delay. Construction period is 3 years.

The stadium's cost is about 80mln EUR -if you find it cheap

Stadium design is very similar to RheinEnergieStadion ,built for the 2006 World Cup as the design beauro is the same - the German gmp-Architekten.

Bulgaria is very high on corruption,so it doesn't really surprise me.
The stadium itself is cheap for sure(35-40 mil tops!),but some people will be pulling A LOT of money from this project, many will get rich from this.

10x for the quality observation, you sound very competent :p
That's not a state investment at first place.

However that's the amount of the whole investment about the project it includes multi-functional arena (which could even host an indoor motocross event ) and other smaller developments. As you can see on the render most of the structure is underground. The construction is light and flexible, but definitely not cheap - since the designers are one of the top companies in the business.

Only announced so far , here we still have some law issues regarding ownership and investment considering some state-built sport facilities. Recently concession-options were finally defined and we expect some movement.

That's the 2005 announced project for CSKA, construction of which could finally start this autumn according to last rumors (about 30k capacity).

Levski also announced a project last years, but i couldn't find any renders. Some other clubs also intent to built new stadiums, in fact Lokomotiv Plovdiv seems to be closest to construction, since the local municipality and investor recently reached agreement.

yes, roughly 30k.
But how can you explain that this project from Romania http://www.onlinesport.ro/forum/atta...2&d=1231779957 that includes a 30.000 seat stadium,a 5.000 seat arena, and a 24 store building, costs only 45 mil?
And I can give many other examples from other countries.
I think you're just naive, you should know better what kind of mafia is in you're country,or maybe they just lied about the costs just to impress people.

Firstly i don't have intention to reg on Romanian sport site just to take a look on it.
And second I'm really bored with that discussion, what I posted is the official information for the approximate amount of investment for the project + some surrounding infrastructure.
Originally the price was announced to be about 45-50mln in the media, in may 2008 the investors said that they expect to reach 80mln (official info on the site). And major construction works are now set to start in second half of 2009, although it's not sure yet.

Now enjoy puberty and stick to the forum idea - which is sport facilities

I really like Varna Stadium, especially from the outside, although it's quite a simple design.
But imo it looks quite a bit smaller than it really is, I would have guessed it holds about 20k.

So the Varna project is the most likely to be done? I don't know why, but it looks very interesting for me, though 80 million seems pretty much. Does the project include other facilities, like the project from Cluj Mihai_alex mentioned, or is it the stadium alone that costs that money?

AFAIK it features some commercial parts as well, and surrounding supporting sport facilities + some funds should be spent for nearby infrastructure.
I know it seems too high amount , according to the site the whole investment around the sport complex(+ infrastr.) will reach about 80mln , i can't say exactly how reliable it is. From the official statements sport complex construction should take 26 months, and another 12 for laying new nearby infrastructure , so i guess a big part of the funding should go there.

As for the construction itself i think it's more likely to be done, but with not a small delay. Anyway if the works really start this year i think it will be realized.

Cheers for that.
There are rumours that say that Romania and Bulgaria may organise an European Championship together (maybe in 2020), so building new stadia in both countries is a good start.

Well that's one of the location where possible development is considered. Firstly it was about a big (10-15k) indoor arena, but plans changed after some time, because it could cause traffic problems. And now a smaller hall could be built there (about 5k ) , in fact there were a couple of great projects made, but only in idea phase.

As for the big Sports arena in Sofia (over 10,000 capacity), it's a question that was raised long time ago, but still nothing sure about location, funding , etc. Both the government and municipality announced plan for building multi-functional arenas in the city, but nothing approved so far. I won't go to further details , because you'll get bored

That was the idea projects that municipality bought to consider sport facility Yunak, but for now there's not a big chance to see one of them started:

project2:

Yeah there's a possibility to put out joint candidature , but we both have a lot work to do in terms of infrastructure and organization. You see how many problems face PO and UK nowadays. Stadiums are just a small aspect of the whole thing, and i think in terms of stadiums Romania is a step ahead at this moment.
