BOTSWANA | Gaborone | iTowers | 21 fl - 21 fl | Complete

Quote:
A groundbreaking ceremony was conducted last week to mark the construction of the country’s tallest building that is expected to provide an outstanding addition to the rapidly-burgeoning Gaborone city skyline.
Comprising three buildings, the tallest of which will scale an impressive 21 storeys, the building named ‘iTowers’ will stand opposite the High Court in the new Central Business District. A representative of the iTowers developers, Manhar Mooney said the complex will consist primarily of two office towers with accompanying retail area, restaurant and a business centre. He said the first tower would comprise of 21 storeys consisting of a double basement parking area, 15 storeys of office accomodation while the balance would be residential units with a roof-top terrace. “iTowers incorporates building methods that conform to the most stringent international ‘green’ standards with passive energy design and control, and smart village technology and a fibre optic backbone,” he said.
The project, according to Mooney, is intended to enable individual businesses to purchase their own piece of the action in a building of the highest quality in the most prime location in the heart of the capital. “Purchasers will be given the choice of buying an empty shell and furnishing it as a standard outfit or the more exclusive designer outfit and ground floors will accommodate 1500sqm of retail outlets, complemented by two levels of underground basement providing parking space for 640 vehicles. There’ll also be top three floors of penthouse apartments offering panoramic views of the buzzing city below and the beautiful horizon beyond,” he said.
Construction has already started and is expected to be completed by the end of next year. Mooney said customers are given the option of purchasing the standard unit and finishing to their own requirements or making use of four designer options provided by the architect.
Minister of Lands and Housing, Nonofo Molefhi was performed the official groundbreaking and in his remarks he said the mushrooming of infrastructural development at the new CBD, will spur other property developers to expedite the development of their plots.

Nice find! I like that it's not an all-glass building. The video was great.

theyve got a nice size to them, I dont think Ive seen a building above 20 F in Gaborone til now. I may be mistaken though..Are there any of that size in the skyline presently?

Good for Gaborone anyway, one of the neatest and cleanest cities on the continent nxt to Windhoek

This picture is from October so there's no telling how far along this building is now.
