Virgin Australia I assume? To me, the Virgin branded airlines are the W Hotels of commercial aviation.

KLIA bags best immigration service award
Published: 2013/04/29

The Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) wins the World's Best Airport Immigration Service award at the 2013 Skytrax World Airport Award, held in conjunction with Passenger Terminal expo in Geneva recently.

Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) senior general manager of operations services, Datuk Azmi Murad said KLIA is consistently voted the best for the staff services excellence since 2010, and this was the second win for the airport in the World's Best Airport Immigration Service category awards.

"To be acknowledged continuously as the best in staff services excellence for three years was absolutely phenomenal and this achievement reflected our relentless and endless pursuit of excellence," he said in a statement today.

Azmi attributed the achievement to the Immigration Department for helping to further enhanced KLIA's reputation.

Meanwhile, Skytrax chief executive officer, Edward Plaisted said the Skytrax World Airport Awards were totally free of any commercial influence or bias, and no airport in the study could exert any influence on the results.

"Airports do not pay to be included in this global study and the awards are respected and recognised as the most prestigious accolades for the world airport industry," he added.

The results were based on 12 million passenger surveys completed in a 10-month survey period, covering over 388 airports.

The survey evaluates the total passenger experience across 39 airport service and product features, from arrival at an airport, through transit and departure processes to the boarding gate.-- Bernama

MAHB eyes 10pc rise in KLIA passengers
Published: 2013/05/20
http://www.btimes.com.my/Current_New...#ixzz2TqCmyUUc

SEPANG: Malaysia Airport Holdings Bhd (MAHB) expects a 10 per cent increase in the number of passengers at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) by year-end from 39.9 million passengers last year.

Its senior general manager (Operations), Datuk Azmi Murad, said the first quarter of 2013 saw the number of passengers grow to 14.2 million or 12 per cent more than same period last year.

"We have done a lot of initiatives to attract airlines to come to KLIA and our incentive is to boost Malaysia's economy growth as well," he told reporters at a media briefing today.

Azmi said one of the initiatives was free aircraft parking to airlines flying to new destinations, adding the higher frequency bodes well for MAHB as it would also mean an increase in the number of passengers to Malaysia.

"It will not only further boost passenger movements at KLIA but is also a positive development for the tourism industry in Malaysia," he added.

He also said MAHB collaborates with the Tourism Malaysia Promotion Board to organise activities for passengers at the KLIA.

"2014 is Visit Malaysia Year, and we are preparing ourselves for the increased number of travellers and passengers by giving special training to frontline staff and service providers or retailers at the airport to ensure they will be interested in visiting Malaysia again," Azmi added.

Azmi was attending a celebration of Royal Brunei Airline's inaugural double daily flight from Brunei to KLIA here, a development that he said signals Royal Brunei's growing footprint in the aviation industry.-- Bernama

it is not a good place to shop at KLIA due to the structure of the departure/arrival hall. I like changi airport concept where all the shops are concentrated at the centre and that makes it lively..
if u notice when u wait for the sky train to immigration checkpoint, the shops along the 2 sides the train waiting area are so empty.. no customers at all...

Ya, it is always empty at KLIA.
