Looked like it had been renovated with the blue-painted brick so I checked Google maps:

Sure enough, from Feb 2016, you can see the original brickwork and contractor's vehicles.

Really well integrated into the sloping site. The right carport is a nice touch. Seems to lack any outdoor areas.

The interiors were obliterated sometime during the 80s with standard period blandness which closed off a lot of the original open space. They did a great job of tearing those out and restoring the MCM feel.

While I personally love the renovation (absolutely LOVE it) I can understand why someone who prefers a more "pure" interpretation of the Mid-century aesthetic might have misgivings about the restoration and renovation.

I think the important thing to note in this case, however, is simply that this house was restored.

If you go to the Google maps link listed above and peruse the street view (or zoom out to an aerial view) you will see that the neighborhood is now dotted with truly horrible McMansions that replace some of the older homes that once populated the area. Fortunately this one has been saved and won't meet the same fate (for the time being).

I really like the Nestlè headquarters and the house in Hololulu. This thread is great.

visually it's appealing but I imagine it would be difficult to live in. Lots of echo from the hard surfaces. And who wants office chairs on rollers on hard floors?

Many of these renovations seem to focus on style over comfort.
