Nearest city would be alkhor, you would find everything you need there, but raslaffan is an industrial city, i dont know how you will live there...

Yes, Ras Laffan is an industry city where i have to work. Today I don't know where I live. When I know the address I while write it in this Thread.
But what important things I have to take with me from Austria to Katar. Things like: shorts, water, sunglasses... |

What else I should take with me for one week in Qatar. I have read that water is unenjoyable!? Is it allowed to wear shorts? Many thanks! |

Take whatever you would take to anywhere else... if you are able to stop in Doha you could find anything you need there, but I don't know what's available in Ras Laffan as it is an industrial area. You might stay in Al Khor or even Doha though, in that case you can find anything you need. You can wear shorts, people can dress as they please in Qatar for the most part.

shorts covering the knees are prefered =Dwhat type of water is unenjoyable ? you mean the seawater (beach) or tap water ? in the case of tap water, its good but seawater is greenish (dosent mean its bad, its just that its not clear...) except for certain places around the Qatari peninsula like Zubarah.. |

I live in "Al Liwan Suites" hotel. Does anybody knows this? Is it possible to swim in the sea and if yes - where? Many thanks! |

the tap water is refined & suitable for drinking, so yeah! you can definitely drink from it. you'll also most likely find bottled water in the hotel you're staying at.
However, if not then you'll find it in supermarkets around the town. Al liwan suites are somewhere in the airport area. once you're out of the arrival terminal take a taxi from there (unless the company you're working with have managed a shutter to pick you up). here's a website for more information about the hotel: http://www.alliwansuites.com/locationmap.html it is possible to swim in the beachs around the country. i would advice you to get more information about it from the reception at the hotel you're staying at. I hope i've managed to answer all your questions
