Thanks.

It's a shame the Club doesn't keep more of these developments documented like they do the new stadium (not expecting live cameras, but a photo update once a month would be nice!).

Levy quote on the training ground:

"We've managed the club, we think, in a very appropriate way. We've invested a lot of money in physical facilities for long-term growth. So we've got one of the world's best training facilities. We've invested over £100m in that facility."

I wonder how much the 'club' has invested in it's physical facilities in total?

£100+m in the Training Facilities
£700-800m in the new stadium

Does this new accommodation fall under the Training facilities investment, or would this be under a completely different budget?

I would say it falls under the training facilities investment.

Last we heard a few years ago spending on Hotspur way was £65m, through the Tottenham trust, now it's reported the new players lodge is costing £18m (although could now be more) plus they've got got planning permission to extend the grounds maintenance building (can't be that mush say £500k) and build the ecological centre (not sure how much but won't be cheap). So even taking interest payments into account and improving internal equipment we can't see I'm not sure how the total investment stands so high?

Most of these development schemes seem a bit over priced to me, I understand land value is high but building things hasn't gone up so much over the years. A 50 room hotel can be built for £50K a room say £2.5M but a 50 Room training facility costs £35M?? It sometimes seems there's usually more people involved in moving the money around than building the thing.

Dont forget the team.

Its quite a turn around in the 15 years or so that Levy has been bringing the club on.

The players lodge should be finished later this year/early 2018. I have emailed the club asking for some photos. Can remember JimB pestering them on the monthly basis on the main build.

edit: and as I typed this I got a email response saying pictures coming soon

The accommodation is being built on the site of Myddelton Farm, which the Club has owned since 2007. The design of the scheme sees the sensitive conversion of the farm, making full use of its key features and heritage, along with the building of a crescent shaped lodge.

The crescent building, which will house the majority of the Lodge’s rooms, has been established.

With the timber frame in place, the outline of the rooms is now visible. Once complete, the Lodge will contain 45 bedrooms.

The basement area will include an elite medical suite – complete with hydrotherapy and rehabilitation facilities - catering and other services, complementing what is already in place at Hotspur Way.

Work has begun on the restoration of the main farm house and farm outbuildings, including what will become a dining area for players.

A redeveloped barn, which will form the Lodge’s main reception, is well underway with the steel structure formed and works to the roof having commenced.

I might be going mad, but I know I've seen those pictures on the Spurs website before.

Google has a cached page from last month with them, so don't know what's happened there http://webcache.googleusercontent.co...&ct=clnk&gl=uk

yes. Although there's been no sighting of building work starting on that yet, unless you know anything?

Guardian blog piece after the Real Madrid match...works in some stuff about the new players lodge...

Quote:
Tottenham reaping rewards of Pochettino’s vision, on and off the pitch

It numbers among the many construction projects at Tottenham Hotspur but, perhaps, it is the one to have drifted under the radar. The London club have committed £30m to the building of a 45-bedroom player hotel on a site adjacent to their Enfield training ground and the rationale is illuminating.

Mauricio Pochettino and his staff are obsessed with marginal gains, with new angles and the creation of the optimum environment, and the private player accommodation lodge, as it is officially known, is another example of the growth that they are seeking.

When it is completed next spring the players will be able to stay there on their return, for example, from European away ties in the small hours of the morning, rather than have to drive home. They would then be on site and that bit fresher for training later in the day. It is a small detail but one Pochettino and the club believe can add value. Recovery after matches is a key area and good sleep is the No1 facilitator of it.

The lodge will feature a medical suite which includes hydrotherapy and rehabilitation facilities, and it will ooze five-star luxury. At the moment the players rest in the recreation room at the training centre in between double sessions. They will switch over to the lodge once it is ready.

Manchester City have something similar at their training ground and so, too, do Real Madrid...

...The bottom line is that he and Tottenham are finding new ways of doing things; different strategies to widen the scope of their approach. What stands out is the thoroughness. At the training centre, it is all straight lines and right angles whereas the player lodge will be crescent-shaped – in other words, softer and more likely to promote relaxation. Feng shui is not for everyone. Pochettino is open to anything that gives him an edge.
