PALMERSTON - #UC: 15 The Boulevard - 2 x 15st, 1 x 17st / mixed use

I thought I'd have a go at finding Darwin's Equivalent to Queensland's PDOnline, to keep track of projects around the region.

This was the first one I managed to find, not sure if it's been mentioned before?

It's directly across from Quest in Palmerston, white a large development. 5 level podium spanning the whole site with 2 x 10 Floor buildings above the podium and another 12 floor building above the podium.

I couldn't find any actual renders so these will have to do for now.

Stage 1 (podium and office/retail space) currently under construction. As of yesterday they were about 3 floors up. Ill try get a progress pic sometime.

The $200 million Boulevard Plaza building is destined to change the face of Palmerston’s Central Business District.

The mixed-use development at 1 Palmerston Circuit is being built by prominent long-time Darwin developers, the Randazzo and La Pira families.

The families have been involved with many developments well known to the Palmerston community, including the Palmerston Shopping Centre, Highway House and the Goyder Building.

The Boulevard Plaza has been designed by local architects Jackman Gooden to be energy efficient and suit the tropical climate, with extensive use of screens, shading and landscaping.

The complex, which will be Palmerston’s tallest building, will be built in stages over several years.

It will be the first mixed-use development of its kind in Palmerston. It will provide the first urban living opportunity in the centre of Palmerston and will include street-level shops, a hotel, apartments and commercial space.
Commercial leasing has now begun for stage one, which is due for completion in the second half of 2018.

Colliers International says it offers exciting leasing opportunities over 2515sq m of prime commercial space across two floors.

The ground floor stage one has 1650sq m of prime street-level commercial space and is suited to retail, food, office, medical and professional services.

Level one has 865sq m of commercial space and is suited to offices, medical and professional services.

The commercial tenancies available are directly below a new 77 apartment residential tower with one, two and three bedroom living. Colliers says a mixed-use development such as this has the potential to activate the heart of the city, making it an attractive place to live, shop, walk around and eat out.

Being in the heart of the Palmerston CBD, it ticks many boxes. Living and working in the city has many economic and environmental advantages with less of a reliance on vehicles to commute to work, shops or social events.

The development is also a short walk from the Palmerston Interchange for those commuting to Darwin or the northern suburbs.

The developers say their aim is to deliver a landmark, quality project that will support the rapid growth of Palmerston and the rural area, defence activities, oil and gas, the new hospital and increased commercial activity.

“We played a key role in the social and economic growth of Palmerston and we are now reinvesting in the city’s future because of our confidence in Palmerston’s growth,” they said. “It will be an ideal address for the many people who work in Palmerston, while the hotel will increase the options for tourists and business visitors in the CBD.”
