I'm surprised at how the Transit Museum manages to upkeep these old cars...

2019? LOL. There is no way that is even remotely possible. 2066 is more likely.

So speculation is abound that the "newer" South Ferry Station could reopen as early as tomorrow (6/27).

Considering how few new or rebuilt stations there are, it seems like it would be possible to have only newer rolling stock operating there.
Such as how the 7 had a mix with quite a few 80s R62 stock slowly being replaced by the R188s and the N/W up SAS uses R62 old trains.
And the 1 still uses all 80s R62 cars,

Much of the 70s and 80s stock such as the R62/68 also has those orange and yellow tacky "bowling alley" seats.

! NYS State of Emergency Declared in Response to Aging Transit

PDF: Executive Order No. 168

Cuomo declares a ‘state of emergency’ for NYC subway

Quote:
[...]
Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that he has declared a state of emergency for the MTA, and that the state plans to allocate an additional $1 billion in funding to the agency’s current capital plan.

“We are now beginning to see what happens when mass transit systems break down,” Cuomo stated. By declaring a state of emergency, the state can “suspend procurement rules for the MTA, allowing the MTA to speed up repairs and the purchase of material and equipment to replace outdated infrastructure,”

[...]

Cuomo also announced that the MTA will work with ConEd on an “immediate investigation of their equipment, transmission and interlocks throughout the entire system.” That investigation, to be completed within 90 days, will then lead to repairs and better communication when problems arise, in theory, by the end of the year.

Wow! ..with $1 Billion dollars the MTA can build two..count 'em two new subway stations.

That ain't happenin'..face it much of the basic infrastructure of the NYC subway is over 100 years old. Let's hope that $1 billion is used to upgrade signals , switches, communications and other safety equipment.

I find it amusing that the problem declares a SoE on a system he himself refuses to properly fund.

A Freudian slip of the keys? Or did you intentionally frame Cuomo as The Problem®?
