Such an ugly word. Accurate, but ugly.

I'm not very familiar with LA.
I would recommend any of the beach communities. Hermosa, Redondo, Manhattan, Venice, Santa Monica are always lively in one way or another.

I am a huge music fan, so I usually hit up Sunset and the West Hollywood area for some live entertainment. The Comedy Store on Sunset is also always fun.

VERY cool.

Do you know if there's a plan for development in these blocks, or did the city just redo the infrastructure to hopefully lure development?

The canyons of those three story buildings is just unbearable. Are they trying to ruin the neighborhood, make it New York or Chicago?

And don't get me started on every person in that picture not having reserved parking at each business!

They did a really good job removing the debris and cleaning up after the demo of the 3 story buildings from the "past" picture; and I see the plan is to let it go even more to nature in the future!

OK, ok...

I just thought it would seem dumb to label it, "Future, Present, Past". And yet it also seemed to make sense to order the pictures from bottom to top. These are the dangers of overthinking things...

You posted the pictures in that order, but then labeled the title of the post in reverse order I think. Tiny bit confusing.

Detroit has reportedly had a lot of handicap ramps installed even where there are no sidewalks or plans for any, because requirements don't always make sense. In this case it does seem to be an actual infill project so that's good.

That particular project is going to be extra nice in that it is right behind the river front walk which extends all the way from Belle Isle to eventually down to the Ambassador Bridge a distance of a few miles. My guess is that it is about twice the length of our waterfront project. There are plans for additional high rises and other neighborhoods such as that to be built in the not to distant future.

I was really really hoping Seattle would gain some of that art Detroit might have had to sell to pay debts.
We're a growing city with a growing need for more art, after all.
And they have a legacy of art donations from the auto barons, back in the day when Detroit was flush.
(I was licking my chops)

My dreams were crushed when I saw it was a no go.

I think we can generate/acquire our own art without having to loot other cities.

Feeling like a celbrity

On Link today, in my monkey suit (uniform) I was approached by someone who asked if I was CH from SkyscraperCity!

Of course, the train got to his stop before I could sign an autograph or anything.

Nice meeting you Xiyatu!

Frayed nerves

I think we all may be a little on edge today.

I can't imagine why...

But perhaps we should all just chill out and think happy thoughts.

What a coincidence that Eva Braun was once a model as well who could rock a swimsuit.
