Funny this last building was also in the ugliest skyscrapers thread, so either you hate it or you love it....dunno what to choose honestly.

Am I the only one who thinks this looks like a giant bottle opener?

its funny how everyone automatically chooses either a historical building or a skyscraper?

could the worlds most beautiful building not be a small two bed house? or a well designed Beach Hut? it seems when people think of the most beautiful they automatically think either the biggest, Historically well known, most publicised or the most documented. Another interesting thing i have noticed is all the modern buildings are by signature architects and the majority of those transparent boxes or towers.

My Suggestion - although not small as i have suggested and possibly controversial:

Madrid Barajas airport, terminal 4

Why? its bold use of colour, detailing, perception of space, readability, 'Honnest' [structure not covered or masked], naked structure and design problem solving. i.e. air ventilation

Excellent point. And I find this chapel to be one of the most beautiful buildings in the world :

Chapel of the Transfiguration of Our Saviour - 2001 - Spasskaya Guba (Karelia, Russia) - Architect Irina Kabanova

I would go for the pan-Nordic complex (Nordic embassies complex) in Berlin for modern, and the Luxor Temple in Luxor for older...

I like this building in Amsterdam. Not sure what it is but it looks like it is made of Lego and that makes it cool.
