Yes, I`ve re-cheked, it was Šírava back then. And it wasn't a bad experience, I've seen worse in my trips... Its just "Slovakia" that had very nice and modern couchette car.

From Railway Gazette:

Three bids for southern Bohemia passenger contract
12 Jan 2015

CZECH REPUBLIC: State-owned ČD, DB subsidiary Arriva and ČSAD Jihotrans company GW Train Regio have submitted bids for a contract to operate regional services in the Šumava region of southern Bohemia.

The contract runs from for 15 years from December 2016 and is potentially worth KC2·25bn. It covers the operation of 1·3 million train-km/year on three routes totalling 229 km:
  • Line 194 České Budějovice – Černý Kříž;
  • Line 198 Strakonice – Volary;
  • Line 197 Číčenice – Volary - Nové Údolí.
Requirements include the provision of new low-floor rolling stock which must be able to reach 100 km/h and provide space for bicycles.

This is the country’s largest ever regional train operating contract, and the first since the Ministry of Transport cancelled tendering for a contract to operate Ostrava – Krnov – Olomouc services in July 2013; on that occasion RegioJet had been the sole qualified bidder.

RegioJet and National Express have chosen not to bid for the Šumava contract, with both companies criticising the specifications, risk allocation and complexity in the tendering process.

Outside the terms of the tender, Leo Express has proposed replacing the local rail services with 10 gas-fuelled buses, with trains to be retained only on the busiest České Budějovice – Volary – Nové Údolí route where four new DMUs would be deployed

Surel named it suitably - train stop. I guess there's nothing more needed in case of that status.

It is just a stop that would allow for changing from a train to the metro on the S lines S8 and S80. Kačerov is also a busy bus station. Prague is trying, although in very slow pace, to integrate the railway system in its city public transportation system. The systems are integrated quite well in their timetables and payments. But the practical integration is what is lacking. There are many changing points needed to make the system really efficient. This stop is one of such points.

Prague railway is quite well utilized in the suburban traffic from the nearby cities to Prague, but it is underutilized in the intra-city traffic.

You can find detailed schemes and maps of how is the Prague's railway system integrated into the Prague integrated public transportation system here: http://www.ropid.cz/zeleznice__s190x540.html

The complete map of the Prague's "S bahn" is here, it is just too big picture to post it: http://www.ropid.cz/data/Galleries/5..._S_2014-12.png

There's been a rock-slide at the local railway line in Krkonoše. There were 9 people injured in the accident (there were 10 people in the train) when the diesel unit hit the rocks on the track.

The shield should be doing 15 meters a day. After finishing the first tube it will be reassembled at the start again for the second tube.

What's Czech opinion on HSR connection between Prague and Warsaw (It would be Prague-Wroclaw-Lodz-Warsaw?)?
