That bridge looks amazing, love the design. The station is pretty interesting as well.

There's still more and more discussion going on about HSR in the Czech Republic. The parliament just brought a notion and called on the government (consensus across all parties) to start the construction of the HSR not later than in 2025 (actuall ground works). The parliament also required that all newly build tracks would be at least 300 km/h.

The government is also showing increasing activity in preparing for HSR, and HSR becomes one of the election themes for the summer parliament elections.

There's also lobbying from big industrial corporations and chamber of commerce for the construction of HSR network in CZ.

The biggest obstacle is the planning bureaucracy. I reckon that the construction process laws would need complete overhaul if we should see any big scale projects under construction in the next 10 years.

What a stupid provision unless there is room for lower sections when 300 km/h just doesn't make any sense.

I did not read it, but what they meant is that they want new alignments instead of adopting sub 300 km/h old alignments so that continuous high speed could be sustained.

Its a general notion and I quite can see the point in this. If it should be done, this should be done properly, otherwise its wasting money.

RegioJet is planning a connection Praha - Wien. It asked for slots starting in december 2017. It wants to run 4 trains daily in each direction.
http://ekonomika.idnes.cz/regiojet-v...ko-doprava_suj

This follows its recent contract with Bombardier and Astra. RegioJet should receive 8 TRAXX MS2e locos, plus option on another 20, it should receive the first five this year. It also ordered 16 carriages from the Romanian Astra. It already operates 10 Astra carriages.

The border railway crossing between Germany and Czech Republic nearby Usti nad Laben is the second most utilized border railway crossing of Germany, even more utilized than the crossings with Austria or the Netherlands (freight).

This brings the plans for HSR line between Dresden and Praha yet closer as the German government will probably make a priority of it. This would include a 26.5 km long tunnel under Krušné hory.

Let me calculate... Well, with so significantly shortened travel times, this could become a viable alternative for travelling between Prague and even South-Western Poland (Wroclaw). Not the shortest, but by far the fastest option.
