Oh did you make that da Vinci? I just saw it by chance while fooling around with sketchup. Well done it looks excellent. I actually just understood what osman4sudan was talking about: the fact that you can turn on a 3D buildings layer on google earth and see models of local buildings. The only 2 structures on there right now are Khartoum Hilton and a nearby bridge (at least those were the 2 that I found). But we really are lagging behind other cities. Lets pick our best buildings and model them up. Great start da Vinci! When can we expect to see it uploaded to the map?

the sketchup program has what's called texture, where you "paste" the photo of the building on the model so i need the building to be done and get some photos before i can finish it i did another model for Petrodar and just need more photo to get done plus the faculty of medicine historical building but get stuck at the dome part as I couldn't figure out how it's look like really (need a photo from above)

agree with you that we should pick the buidlings and start work on them, as a start this is what came across my mind:
. NTC Tower
. Sudatel Tower
. Republican Palace
. Khalifa's house
. Mahdi's Tomb
. Nilin Mosque
. Abdelgaiuom Gate

p.s. by the way there is a 3D Friendship hotel and Tuti's bridge as well already done and available in Google Earth.

Ok, this how my work looks like in Google Earth. not too bad for a beginner isn't it . you can find by going to www.sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/ and then search for "Khartoum".

That's amazing, well done da Vinci. It just takes a few beautiful buildings to really bring out the city's development. Awesome job!

p.s. I couldn't find the Friendship Hotel, is that the same as the palace hotel? Couldn't find a 3d model of either.

hey guys ! I am a fellow 3d modeler in Beirut, Lebanon. I have done about 61 models for GE in Lebanon including many stadiums and building. If anyone needs any tips on texturig and whatnot, I am here to help.

To take a look at me and my fellow modelers have done in Lebanon, see this page:

http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehou...90e175c0690b6b

It contains several models (90 actually) of work done by myself, Zippo, Melkart, and Abdallah K.
