Days like today make me think that cycling can't be a year-round activity in Toronto...

I'm still seeing buses in Mississauga with racks occupied...MiWay (MT) and GO buses....
And people are still riding bikes even along the windswept steppes of Eglinton Ave. west of Hurontario and Hurontario north of Bristol. Cheers, m

They have finally started to install the bixi stations!
I didn't buy a membership and I don't think I will use it too much, but I'm pleased to see this happening in Toronto ![]() Check the updated website with all station locations: https://toronto.bixi.com/

I saw them putting up one beside Sugar Beach. I hope this really takes off and they put in many new stations, to cover all of the downtown area.

This is so exciting!!
I do hope they expand the service area.. Personally, I would be satisfied with a few stands near High Park, as that would be a 10min bike ride for me to get to.. Then, I'd rather use Bixi as it would be easier to just drop it off at another station and forget about it. |

Hey, the Bixi bikes come out today. I've seen a few docking stations around town but never a bike, so I'm very curious to check it out. I hope this really takes off and they expand it all over the city. The docking stations look very cool.

You can see Toronto went for black. Is black the "it" colour for Toronto? Clothes, cars, bike-share... Cheers, m

Last week I saw someone snapping a photo of the ones in Cawthra Park with his cellphone. I toyed with the idea of walking up and asking if he was an SSC'r!!

Do we have a price for the renting of one of these bixi bikes yet? Is it meant to be a cheaper alternative to buses or is it for enjoyment purposes.

There's a bixi station literally at the bottom of my building... I think I will get a subscription. Easier than lugging my bike from the underground garage all the time.

$95 - Annual $40 - 30 days $12 - 72 hours $5 - 24 hours The actual per-trip fee varies depending on the length of your trip. Anything less than 1/2 hour is free and you are given extra time if your drop-off station is full and you need to go to the next one). The whole idea is that you would not take a bike out for more than 1 hour or so. If you start going into a very long trip, the cost escalates very quickly. Cheers, m

bixis were very popular this weekend, every station had some curious people checking it out.
I've had some trouble with malfunctioning stations and docking points. |

Tried out the Bixi bikes today! The bikes themselves are great, exceptional working order, for now, and the process of acquiring one is super easy. The only tough part is is trying to avoid those additional fees. So if you can manage to make a trip from station to station, all under 30 minutes, the experience pays for itself! I give it my full recommendation to you all!

I hadn't seen anybody on a Bixi until Sunday and then it was Bixi overload. I saw all kinds of people riding all over downtown. Even today, I saw a number of people riding around on them, so maybe things are really starting to take off. I also spoke to 3 friends on Sunday who told me they were going to buy a membership.
