Her er skissen over de opprinnelige planene. (Foto: Brandsberg-Dahls Arkitekter)

haugesund's got two highrises from 1964... does that count?

and what the hell.. look at the comments! Nobody complaining about highrises being worst than Satan, they actually complain about buildings NOT being high enough in Stavanger... Seriously, what's up with Stavanger and their completely different views on highrises than the rest of the country? XD We could sure need some more of that YIMBYism in Haugesund, Bergen, Oslo and Trondheim

Sandnes municipal lost in Miljøverndepartementet against Jernbaneverket in the case about old Brueland goods terminal in Sandnes sentrum. The municipal wanted to transform the old goods terminal into offices, a school and some appartments to expand the downtown area, but Jernbaneverket thought otherwise, and objected to the original plans. According to Jernbaneverket, Brueland may sometime in the future be needed as a parking space for trains, service area and vending area for trains. And in the Norwegian spirit, such areas must lie in downtown! Miljøverndepartementet agrees with this, as no other areas around Sandnes can be fitted for such, apparantly.

What have we done to deserve such retarded authorities?!

Area today:

What the heck is this? Grass covered walls and roofs in the center of town? Looks pretty dumb if you ask me. The problem is that all of these anti-urbanism people REALLY want our cities to look like their ideal of the idyllic 1800's farm house in the countryside..

Rogaland wants government to fund 1/3 (2 milliard kroner) of a new Light-rail system connecting both Stavanger and Sandnes to Sola airport and Forus business area. But Kleppa (minister of transportation) can't promise anything:

http://www.tu.no/bygg/article238998.ece

This is the most important infrastructure project in Nord-Jæren, and i hope it get's priority ahead of all the planned roadworks (A long list of projects.).

From the render it looks like there will be a joint-stretch in Forus with BRT paralell to the LRT:

I would love to see national fundings go to local PT and railprojects, but currently we don't have any such experience with our authorities, so.. I don't think this project will get national fundings either. Or else all the other big (and small) cities would start screaming too. Suddenly "everyone" would want to have light rail in their cities, and we can't have that, now can we?

No, God forbid! Our tax money and huge amounts of oil dollars spent on a modern and efficient infrastructure, that would be a real bad idea...

Maybe this is a joke too you guys, but don't forget "konkurranseutstatt næring"... Good infrastructure will destroy our export industry. Great infrastructure is only for poor countries, didn't you know that?

Besides, there is nothing wrong with our infrastructure, so stop complaining damn it!

If the locals allow for a transport-package simular to Bergen with a lot of tolls for motorists, the state will have to pay up i imagine.

Holy moses! It's exactly because of this type of out-of-touch-with-real-life, complete ignorants that have caused the appalling conditions of this country's infrastructure. Dagsavisen is pretty socialistic, isn't it??

What a joke. Sure, spending 1.17 billion kr to fix our infrastructure is a little over the top, but he doesn't even admit that there is anything wrong with the infrastructure we have. The E18 is a nice stretch of road around Oslo, but it soon turns into a 2 lane road full of dangerous twists and turns. And is it really too much to ask that the trains run on time in one of the world's richest countries when they do in India?
