Would the lack of public transport in some of the areas affect the long term growth of the population from internal+external sources? Has this been brought up in any studies regarding norwegian or expat communities as a disadvantage of the city? Or am I just seeing a problem where there isn't one

If we're talking long term, I think it's worth mentioning that we will most likely see a tram system connecting the region. They're now building transport corridors for buses that can easily be converted for trams in the future. And many newer area plans includes the tram.
It has not yet been formally approved, but the ruling political party for several decades is for the tram - and anyone who knows the spirit of how they do things in this city knows that it produces all the necessities, and then points to the prevailing conditions and eventually get their will (as they did with the university, and as they're doing for the trams now).

A bigger problem is perhaps the current prices in the housing marked. They're so high that younger people are forced to live further and further from the center, resulting in a bit exclusive city center reserved for people working in the oil industry.

Dette forslaget hadde virkelig hjulpet Stavanger med å tatt seg bedre ut, men det blir nok for voldsomt for lokalpolitikerene.

Stavanger har ikke den storby mentaliteten som trengs for å få gjennom ett slikt forslag desverre.

Dette forslaget ville nok fått bedre gjennomslagskraft i Oslo når lokalpolitikerene der får hue opp av sanden og faktisk begynner å forstå hvilke folketilstrømmning den byen har.

And I love Mad's proposal for Forus. That's how they should develope it!
I hope the plans both includes public transport, and mix of housing and office buildings. Forus needs to be an extension of the city, and not just an endless office ghetto.

I was a bit sceptic after reading about it in the local newspapers. And after going through the project page from MAD and having a look at the beautiful renders, I'm definitely won over to their vision.

An obvious Central Park inspiration, wich I think works great.

Now to get proper investors and get the project going.
At least a great inspiration for further development and enhancement of Forus.

Edit: After giving it some more thought, I find it hard to believe they went with Allianse's proposal. They are stating that the winner was chosen because it could be built in stages. Can't MAD's proposal also be built in stages? It is in my opinion also much saner to built a giant park instead of small grass fields and trees seemingly dropped randomly around.

Hi there, I'm from Italy. I'm sure this is not the right thread to talk about it, but I need some infos cuz I'm going to go Stavanger in september 17. I'd like to visit the pulpit rock and I know it's necessary to take the ferry for Tau. I'm going to take the bus from Bergen at 6:00 am, and I'll reach Stavanger at 11:30 am. Some questions:

1)How can I reach the pulpit rock from Stavanger? When I take the ferry for Tau, what kind of public transport can I take for the pulpit rock?

2)How much are the tickets? (ferry+bus or taxy)

3)Is it possible to have this tour in a day trip? That because the same day, at 22:30, I will take the train to Oslo.
