I agree on that there's way more municipalities (kommuner) in Norway for it's own good just as an example: Haugesund and Karmøy (parts of Karmøy is mainland) are divided at a place where there literally is no countryside or anything like it at the points., and the only bit of farmland there is a patch of grass wedged in between houses, roads and stores XD

What about 90
SSB has done some work to divide Norway into economical regions. Maybe we should use these as new kommuner instead.

Personally I think somewhere between 100-200 is more appropriate, but I would prefer 90 to 430.

fylkesgrensene. NUTS (Nomenclature des Unités Territoriales Statistiques) er
EUs standard for regional inndeling. Arbeidet med den nye inndelingen har
tatt utgangspunkt i Statistisk sentralbyrås (SSBs) standarder for inndeling i
inndelingen tilsvarer nivået REGIN 4 i SSBs regionale inndeling (REGIN).
REGIN 1 består av hele landet, REGIN 2 av landsdelene, REGIN 3 av fylkene
og REGIN 5 av kommunene.

700 new hotel rooms will open during this and next year. According to local paper Rogalands Avis the Stavanger region will thereby exceed Bergens hotel capacity.
Comfort Hotel Square, Rica Airport Hotel together with Scandic located at Forus are all under construction.

I guess the oil industry that IceCheese refers to is still attracting international/national visitors to Stavanger.
A funfact regarding hotels in Stavanger. Stavanger hotel Rica Park is rated best norwegian hotel with its 211. position.

Construction of Bryggeriparken will start this fall. First step will consist of 22 000m2 of office space. When completed the whole project will house 220 000m2 of office space and merchandise. This includes a highrise.

Tar grep for nytt tinghus

Construction start September 2010

That's great news. Do you know when they will start digging between Ålgård and Hove. Doesn't really sound like it will be for another couple of years

According to the article below, somewhere between 2014 and 2019. Local financial solutions may schedule the construction start to an earlier stage.

Well, one can read this as negative, but there is genuine interest to build these towers so we shouldn't give up yet - doesn't seem to be a general halt in interest for Forus, problem here is price per squaremeter. Føniks is such a beautiful design it would be very sad to see change in favour of a cheaper building. It becomes clear that approval isn't a guarante for realisation even in strict Norway. Both growing cities aswell, Kristiansand and Trondheim has also had towers approved for years now without construction start....
