Riverside, California. Ready for Christmas

Riverside, California, is a faraway suburb of Los Angeles metro.

Tonight I decided to stop by downtown. I just wanted to checkout the Festival of Lights (half of which were turned off after the business hours) and the outdoor ice rink (which also closes for maintenance a fresh layer of water, every night)
Please, keep in mind that it was around midnight on a weekday, and most of our DT is just offices with very few residentials. So not many people out there...

Also I had no tripod, so most shots were made at high ISO with camera in hand. Please excuse the low quality.

Looking toward the City Hall:

A fountain. This picture doesn't do justice to the play of colorful lighting:

Turn around, cross the street, and you will see the ice rink:

Now I cross another street, say hello to the 4-legged K9 officer, and keep on walking:

A look-alike building across from the Mission Inn:

And THIS is the Mission Inn:

And that over there is pretty much the end of this pedestrian street. Nothing interesting there, not many shops. It just leads to the convention center and Marriott.

So I turn around and walk back.

Next to the City Hall is the Public Utilities office (1st floor) with 5 floors of public parking above it:

So I went on the 6th floor (parking roof) and took some pictures from there.

Looking North East:

Looking South East:

And looking South, toward the Detention Center, right across from a new office tower:

Got back down to the street. Here is a little, but elder brother of the big parking structure. He got a nice face-lift not too long ago:

Nice Christmas decorations. All you need now is... snow.

You might be surprised! Two years ago it snowed near LA. (Baldwin Park at least...) And not on Christmas, but in May! That was some weird weather. I was near Downtown (LA) on that day, and it hailed there, so I didn't get to see the snow. Then it was windy and cloudy for the rest of the day. I remember because I also went for a swim at the beach after work that night. The waves were crazy...
