Club50 at SkyscraperCity

For those of you new to the Miami forum, we used to have a thread called the Bayside Lounge for the discussion of subjects that were not exactly related to Miami development or Miami skyscrapers and were considered to be off-topic, but could be discussed in the Bayside Lounge. Just prior to last year's national election, discussions in the lounge got so heated that my predecessor found it fitting to delete the thread. Then, we ended up with the Miami Politics (Keep it clean) thread with no thread in which to discuss off topic subjects whether they be political or not. Therefore, I am reviving the concept and naming it after that 50th floor pool bar at the hotel Viceroy. This will be our own little skybar so to speak, so pull up a chair, and I'm ready for my second glass of that nice Chilean cabernet sauvignon.

Actually, it wasn't originally my idea. I think it was Chuck's. I just revived the concept since we lost the thread that was specifically created for any off topic discussions.

Sort of an off topic discussion...

Are they going to do away with the feeder ramps in downtown Miami? I remember reading about this in another thread somewhere. What are the thoughts on this of those of you who live near downtown and currently use them?

That's hilarious. If she has further difficulties making the goats cry I suggest showing them ANY Paulie Shore movie.

You are welcome, PeterSmith! I figured we needed it now more than ever because once Met2 is completed, we won't have anything new to talk about in the way of construction for quite some time.

Btw, just so you all know, I didn't campaign to be the Miami forum's moderator, neither did I ask for it. I was approached by one of the moderator staff who told me that they were looking for a replacement for Toucano and asked if I would be interested. I hesitated at first because I really didn't want the added responsibility, but then they convinced me that it wasn't that much added responsibility. One of the more senior members of the forum did tell me about a year ago that if Toucano left, he wanted me to replace him, so maybe he did some campaigning for me. Either way, they can read everything we all post, each and every one of us, on each and every thread in each and every SkyscraperCity forum, and that is how the decision was made.

It's kind of interesting. With my new password, I get a different kind of screen from you guys when I log on with a lot more options. I'm still learning what they all are and what they do.

Barf, you must mean these things. It took me a while to find this photo on Flickr where I had it locked because it's part of my Shutterstock portfolio. Anyway, I rather enjoy driving to Brickell this way. I think I would miss them if they were torn down.

Yes, those are what I was referring to. They definitely have character, and they are unique to Miami, not many other cities have "spurs" into the city like that. I think it was on this site that there was a thread discussing their imminent and inevitable end.

I love driving to Brickell this way. One exit lets you off right in front of Met2 where you can head straight down Brickell Avenue. The other one that you can see here lets you off at South Miami Avenue where the drive across the bridge is spectacular, especially if you're in a convertible. It should become even more spectacular in the years to come.

For those of you who don't know, parking at the SW 10th Street garage is free for the first 30 minutes if you're just ordering some takeout or running a short errand in Brickell Village. If you do some shopping at Publix, you can stay longer for free as long as you make sure to have your parking ticket validated.

I love the spaghetti bowls downtown, I feel like I'm in a real life F-Zero (old SNES game) zipping around. New Orleans has ramps too, but Miami is better. The other F-Zero feeling I got was driving South on I-95 into downtown at 10pm on the 4th of July, fireworks to the left, right, center, rear view mirror while zooming along. Otherwise I hate that road.

I think it's optimal for minimizing ques.
Sure, it could get more fit, but that would make more traffic.

But yeah, they are butt-ugly.

Why does the Panthers play in Sunrise?

Why not in AA Arena?
They shared Miami Arena with Heat, why not AA?

I merged your thread with Club50 because I created Club50 for questions such this. There is no need to create a new thread just to have a question answered.

Thanks! I'm glad you didn't take issue with it. And if you had, I simply would have said the call was mine to make.
