well i certainly enjoyed myself 2007 - 2008 until four seasons and raffles were stopped scrapped and suspended and was sent home

glad i'm not there now however but even then could sense the undercurrent of unrest

Well, that is great to know. Bahrain is a beautiful country and - I believe - the best of the whole GCC because its people are very well educated.

However, when I was there as an expat I did feel quite uncomfortable at times. Even though I'm a Shia Iraqi I try to view things from an unbiased perspective and take into account all people's concerns. Naturally I want to democracy in Bahrain (as I do in Syria) as I think that this will allow the country to develop further - though I'm aware that there are many (including many on this forum) who would rather see democracy in one and not the other.
