^Old Yankee stadium had bleachers, right? Or do baseball fields not count.

Kharkiv's has 41k because of the Athletic's course I'd say, don't know for Donbass, maybe because they're quite small tiers.

Well yes, but those were replaced with individual seats in 1978 (except in the outfield). I was speaking more modern day professional stadiums usually have all individual seats. The exceptions being some MLB stadiums with small sections of bleachers in the outfield that are sold very cheap.

And rereading my last post, I pretty much never made my point (that's what I get for writing it at 2 in the morning haha). So my point is that even though many American stadiums have bleachers and even though they do have a slight space advantage (I think I remember seeing a conversion factor of like 1.2 somewhere), it is not as big as some people might think.

The Emirates Stadium is huge in relation to its 60k capacity, particularly in comparrison to Old Trafford which holds a lot more. Credit to them for concentrating on comfort and style rather than capacity. If the seats in place here were crammed in like those at most English football stadiums, they could add another 10-15k on the capacity.

Yeah I see your point, but being crammed in like sardines, and having people piss in your pocket thesedays, in a brand new stadium wouldn't go down so well I don't think.

Particularly with the sort of clientele attending EPL matches in the capital thesedays, and looking ahead to England hosting the World Cup and the Emirates itself hosting other events.

yeah but that's the point, if you've ever been to London you'll know emirates stadium crowds are nowhere near representative of london or our fanbase. I really hate the stadium and it's vibe (ok it has no vibe).

I take your point about "hot legs" and what not, but they don't cram you in like they used to, and the toilets are quite "clean". As I have repeatedly said on this forum Football stadiums should cater to all types of fans, not just Tarquin and Hooray Henry!!

Standing behind the goals, seats on sides, maybe even cheap bench seats also!

The steepness makes it look like a lot more.

Omiya Ardija, Saitama's "2nd" club, did this. They have a standing area behind the goals at their new ground which was built in 2007.

Stadio Olimpico in Torino looks bigger than 27.000 seats.

Damn right! Give one end to the away fans, one end to the home fans and let the prawn sandwich brigade pay for the wages etc. in their exclusive middle tier down the sides!

For some reason people associate standing and terraces with poor facilities! Give more food areas and a huge amount of toilets - that is replacing the old stadia properly rather than boring bowls.

exactly that's what they do in other countries. Their cheap tickets maybe cheap, but their expensive tickets would make even premier league fans' eyes water.

I'd say terracing behind one goal, bench seats behind the other, with a corner terrace for the away fans and normal seats everywhere else. Or something like that. I wouldn't wanna give a whole end to away fans, home fans come first imho!

I suspect the reason is that it seems to have an abnormally high number of vertical access isles between what look like smaller than normal blocks of seats.

firstly i think for toyota stadium it is because of the incredible incline (out of curiosity what is the degrees for the upper deck and secondly i never reaised that May Day didnt have seats which would probably explain its capacity becasue it looks no bigger than 100k with seats

Detach it from the rest of the stadium slightly and let 'em tear it up!
