Noticed them... Maybe they'll do a architect competition for the whole block one day, but I'm a bit confused about if it will be offices for KHM, or what. See on this PDF the whole area seems to be marked as "offentlig byggeområde": http://www.khm.uio.no/bjorvika/faktaark/faktaark_3.pdf
But they are not part of what Statsbygg plans with, so... I really don't know! This is NSB parking area now, isn't it?

And to get a grip on "who owns what in Bjørvika?", as some of you were wondering on back at the day of the PWC-tour, this Flash-map makes stuff easier: http://osu.no/osu/eiendommer/

Another Barcode row perpendicular the original one, is this going to pass?;D

The jurys argumentation can be found here:
http://www.haveiendom.no/filestore/V...ner_270309.pdf
http://www.haveiendom.no/filestore/V...ner_270309.pdf
Oslo city council has decided to go for this proposal, following the jury in the competition. According to Bygg.no, the main building has been cut some in height and made a bit slimer, but everything else is the same.

Deichmanske library will be 3 years delayed, according to the same article. This is because they can't start building till E18 is gone and DEG is done, it seems... I wonder why the didn't know about this before?!

They didn't mention if the city council has decided on the proposal on Deichmanske, but out of the "nature" of the article, I guess they decided on the winner here too.

Curious to how they can make the building both slimmer and lower. Where are they adding floorspace to compensate for this? Did Herrero overdimension the floorspace? Can't they make it slimmer, but higher instead?

Herrero did overdimension it. The museum only need like 16.000 m2, the first proposal was 20.0000 m2

Thanks for clearing that up Then it's all fine (Little disappointed about the height, hopefully it's only a few meters lower). I'm very glad they are following the jury proposals, altough controversial - now only the council needs the same attitude. Construction start in first half of 2011, opening 2014 for Munch?
http://www.byradsavdeling-for-kultur...0880-4065.html

I see now that Byantikvaren wants Lambda reduced in height with atleast 6 meters, and widt atleast 20 meters, PBE wants with reduced with 15 meters. Nothing in Byrådets "innstilling" about the reduced height/widt other than it will be "considered" tough.

Aftenposten writes today about a new proposal For National museum in Bjørvika it looks like Lpo has made it for Statsbygg, (Alt 1) where the Aftenposten building is gone and replaced by a funky Viking-ship house of 5000m2, it allows for a 50 meter high building as an additional barcode, and a 40 meters building east of it - just like i hoped for. If the Viking-ships is to be moved Statsbygg and the museum feels it's the best location in the park near the lake. Riksantikvaren may hinder a move if he/she decides the ships is conserved at Bygdøy as part of the Viking-ship house

See tons of illustrations and reading here:
http://www.statsbygg.no/Utviklingsprosjekter/khm/

Don't put to much into it as it will be subject to an architectural competition, altough Alt 1 is very very cool in those renderings - hopefully it will end up even cooler. Atleast this shows my idea wasn't just hopeless, we might see barcode extended to the east!

Alt 1 - Yes yes, see huge on Statsbygg page:

They are also seems to be putting a lid on top of the tracks here
(What's up with the DEG-location here? Hmm....

Alt 2 - Not to bad either, boring volume-render ofcourse and less height Buildings along Bispegata is good, no need for a park all the way to the tracks, is there?:

Oh lord....

Not only are they going for that piece of generic shit, but they are going to take away the one quality that might have saved it. Fantastic....

If they were going low anyway, why not take one of the more exciting proposals? I mean, I seriously doubt they are going to have trouble filling space out there. What is the point in having architectural competitions if the end result will be dumbed down so much by politicians as to be just another lowrise box? So that future generations can drool over what the city *might* have been?

Well, the height wasnt exactly the quality in it. Whats importent is the outroom (uterommet) and the urban quality.

height would have looked better - highrise buildings are a symbol of wealth and succesfullness. if there is one country that should have a nice and delicate skyline - it Norway.

also, they add density to an area, which is always good (unless you're living somewhere like bangladesh ) more people.. busier streets.. the city becomes more alive, vibrant and dynamic.

so IMO lowering the height of the building was a mistake i hope it wont be too noticable, though!

I have scanned and merged the overview render from OSU's second newsletter. I know some forumers already have seen this, but to everyone else, this render shows a new design on both MAD's residental tower and DnBNOR B-building (hope I got the name right). The changes on DnBNOR A-building was just minor this time...

So... Here it is!

I hope the appartments on Sørenga will be more affordable than the ones in Barcode. We don't need more Aker Brygge/Tjuvholmen areas. It's not enough with the 10% Husbanken financed, or what it was...
