Totally agree with your comment. When it comes to building in traditional styles you have to know what you are doing otherwise it just looks kitch.
Most of the really good new projects come from the U.S.A. where architects have obviously made a thorough study of proportion, detailing etc.and it shows.
(Las Vegas of course being the exception - yuk: )

Americans are the best in fine -drawed classicism! Great!

In Europe we don't build such beautiful buildings (because americans already do). We prefer destroying our landscapes and cities with soulless, disposable crap.

I don't like Mormon temples that much... mostly because they appear to look as "pseudo-classical" structures.. that is, they look like kitschy suburban copies (and the fact they have almost the same exact design)... now the philadelphia one is beautiful!
