how about this, it is mixed with some less classical and more modern proportions but due to the simplicity and plain window color i think it looks pretty nice

Daming Lake Jinan, a mix of the old and new. Sometimes it's obvious to tell them apart, sometimes it's difficult.

Note: The 2nd to last picture is actually a 200 year old building, totally blending.

The area around Greater Goose Pagoda is a hub for Neo-Tang style buildings, which include the Furong Palace in Little Universe's post.

Pictures taken by me in 2008 using a normal point and shoot with no post processing. That area was still under construction in 2008, and looks to be completed now from Little Universe's post.

It's all so kitschy and surely totally unnecessary.
The same thing has been said in this thread too many times. All the copycat theme stuff has nothing to do with "harking back to the past," rather it's all merely for novelty purposes. I wonder if people in the 1920s thought Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood was just as "surely totally unnecessary."

From the thread you quoted and examples a couple pages back, I see some pretty good original buildings, both classical Chinese and Western.

I checked the last few pages of this thread and I gotta say I fell in love with some of the countryside houses in both the US and UK. There was a house I liked in particular, but I can't find it anymore. Keep them coming!

A New Country House in the Cotswolds, U.K.

Designed by Yiangou Architects.

This project was the winner of the Georgian Group Architectural Award in 2014 for best new building in the Classical tradition. The building was noted for it’s “subtle and fluid evocation of classical principles giving a result that manages to be playful as well as imposing”.

Some very nice houses. I always thought I would build something with Colonial Spanish influences if I moved to Texas though.......

a new apartment building in tehran , the architecture is based on old traditional villas around the alborz area (mid northern Iran), it has modern touches yet looks very rustic and rural
